Once you learn to differ being happy from being content, it gets clear.
Happiness is an incontrollable, fleeting, reflex-like emotion. It comes and goes in waves, similar to other emotions.

Contentment, on the other hand, is something malleable.
See, when you give extra attention to what brings you joy, you can bend your level of contentment to your conscious will, which makes it easier to "feel happy" more often :)

I am not sure if I have cracked it, I think I am still not wise enough and I feel all emotions as they come. But since I have been working on what I pay most attention to, I do feel more content :)
