One helpful strategy is to gradually get used to smaller and smaller portion sizes. It's steady as one goes with that, meaning that that takes a while to make that adjustment. One can't rush that change.

Yet the more one pays attention to how it feels eating, the more one can recognize how one can stop eating sooner, and gradually make that change. Then one gets into a mode of eating less, and one is taking in less with hardly trying at all.
