The IRS is purchasing large amounts of ammo and weapons, prior to the massive 87,000 employee increase.

I have never in my life heard of an IRS agent needing to be armed. Don't they just sit in their offices and make phone calls?

The IRS has a Criminal Division, which takes pn organized crime and drug trafficing and money laundering and things. That division is armed. The rest of the IRS isn't.
