Okay, here’s an example of a double standard on the guys’ side…

If a man comes on talking about his bodily functions, chances are he’ll be scolded, blocked, muted, even reported. Right ?
But women come on speaking at length about their periods, etc. No comments.
I’m a woman and that’s still TMI…yikes. 😩

Yes it's true i think. Also if a woman talks about her sex interests she's really popular but if a guy does it he's being gross or is sounding desperate. Lol i think it's all TMI 😂
@Mamapolo2016 Yes ! I wonder that, too. And it’s not a question of being ashamed of anything. Some things are just private, or should be.
SW-User
@Mamapolo2016 @bijouxbroussard I agree, some things i just don't want to hear about and if it's pushed onto me it just adds to the stress.

Me too …

I just ignore those posts …

@SW-User
** speaks primly **

I think we talk openly about things that should be kept private and never say a whisper about things that should be exposed but are kept secret.
I will actually disagree with you here. I dislike that women are made to feel ashamed by having a period and cannot talk openly about it.
I have, over the course of my adult life, really suffered with my periods and not talking about it delayed any help i could have received at a younger age. I just did not know what was normal and that something could be done about it. The more we openly discuss the issues women face the eadier it is for us to have access to the support we need.

There was a poem i read some time ago that was about this

[c=800055]apparently it is ungraceful of me
to mention my period in public
cause the actual biology
of my body is too real

it is okay to sell what's
between a woman's legs
more than it is okay to
mention its inner workings

the recreational use of
this body is seen as
beautiful while
its nature is
seen as ugly

@InOtterWords Okay, but I’ve seen guys called "pervs" here for talking about their bodies, like ours are somehow sacred and theirs aren’t.
How is that fair ?
@bijouxbroussard the double standard is not fair, that i do agree woth

So TRUE! Why don't people talk about things that are all but ignored?🤔Like what happens to people who can't afford insurance and will most likely die alone, who buries them? Why is there a "death tax" and other ignored subjects that are so important?

Being that I and most of my friends are or were in the medical profession at one time it really doesn’t bother me until it gets to the fetish point. Same with my siblings, the medical ones don’t care but the ones who aren’t cover their ears and shout “TMI!”.
sciguy18 · M
I know what you’re saying, but I just scroll past such posts as quickly as possible.
@sciguy18 So do I.
Maybe they'll create a "Prissy" group for us.
I can see the double standard you're talking about now that I think about it 🤔 I'm just used to being careful with what I say. As men we grow accustomed to being labelled as "crude" or whatever else. I just watch what I say unless I have a point to it. I think everybody should treat it that way

I dont get it
do you mean like when a dude talks about masturbating and orgasms?
cause that is in no way the same as period which come without our permission monthly and even little girls at the age of 9 can get them. so its def not the same sexual situation
@SW-User One post about women makes me obsessed about children ?
Go away, please.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard wow no denial
@SW-User Bye, now. ah, I get it. You’re one of the ones with a period fetish.

Sort of, although I've seen men talk about some bodily functions fairly often without getting scolded much.
I couldn't agree more though, about women talking at length about their periods at length..."etc". 🤦‍♀️
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
If I were to talk about my bodily functions, I would try to do it in a way that would make people laugh. I agree with what you are saying, though.
Fishy · F
Yeah ngl, I'm guilty of complaining about periods 😅

But yeah, I get where you're coming from

Welcome to the wonderful world of SW in particular and Western Culture more widely.
SW-User
Agreed, That shit needs to be private, it is also TMI.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I agree and I don't want to hear about any of it
I like ...decorum
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
I don't see speaking about our periods as the same as talking about bodily functions, such as almost crapping yourself.

I understand where you are coming from on the double standards...I simply don't bother to open those posts and I certainly don't report for it. I have posted about my period before and I have gotten nasty pushback from men and women about it.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
The internet is the land of the overshare.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
what about a woman previously a man? exactly. Nobody wants to hear about bowel movements from an old CIS white guy after the breakfast buffet at Lyons. Everyone else gets a pass.
@lumberjackslam True, but nobody wants to hear about that from anyone—I don’t think ? 😳
MethDozer · M
Well, it was nice knowing you BB.
MethDozer · M
@bijouxbroussard Nah I'm not leaving. You're just talking dangerous here.🙃
@MethDozer ROTFL ! Will I get banned ? 🤣
