What are you feelings about the push towards adoption of full digital ID ?

By full digital ID, I mean a government issued/managed ID that gets used for *everything* and eventually will replace all sorts of seperate licenses, endorsements, etc. for access to government services at local, state, federal and even international levels.

ie. you won't have a physical license card for anything, even for accessing your banking, and the only form of 'identification' will be an electronic record linked maybe to biometrics or similar which will require you to carry an authorised 'smart device' everywhere you go if you can't do the biometrics to 'authenticate' yourself with.

This is the 'third pillar' of what the UN and WEF are pushing for alongside fully digital currency systems (CBDC - with no physical currency), and social credit scoring systems.

The UK is proposing digital ID to monitor workers. This is in direct response to French complaints that our low regulation labour market is a strong attraction to irregular migrants.

Our data security laws are among the strictest in the world. If passed, the digital ID will be used for this purpose alone.

I would support a more comprehensive ID system, but right now the proposal is simply to clamp down on black market employment that may be encouraging large numbers of migrants to attempt a risky crossing of the English Channel.

@SunshineGirl You swallowed the bait. It's not and never is about immigration control - it's about monitoring/control of *everyone* and part of the push for globalisation of everything via the three-pillars the WEF is pushing for.

- Full digital ID
- Social credit scoring
- CBDC (Central Bank Digtal Currency)

ie. the end of more personal freedoms including the right to choose to pay with cash plus your right to control information about how you use your money along with your right to work (have a job), your right to travel, your right to own a home, your right to own personal transportation (ie. cars), along with where you can live and how you can live, where you are allowed to go just in your local region, etc.

The WEF 'grooms' politicians through it's 'Young Global Leaders' program into becoming globalist pawns because financial greed trumps everything else in politics and business. If you need just one example, look straight at Donald Trump.

@zonavar68 Spend six months working in UK government (I was a civil servant for five years) and you will understand that it would be a minor miracle if a comprehensive database of employees was launched, never mind control of banking and personal property.

Incidentally, a major barrier to economic growth is lack of geographical mobility. How does restricting peoples' freedom of movement square with globalist greed?

I believe it'll be the computer chip embedded in your hand, at the bottom of your eye or even your forehead. That would be simpler. The Swedes love it from what I've read.

And yes we've been headed for a one-world system for a few decades.

And yes I know the US has been seeking ways to eliminate cash since the 1960s / 70's, and now they have digital currency which much of the US government is pushing for.

Around 2010 a major hospital in this city actually started doing palm scans as ID.

It's coming!

On the one hand, universal ID is good, no more asking for a vicar and cop to sign a document whenever I submit a form & no more asking for multiple forms of ID, passport, driving licence, bank statement etc…

…but making it mandatory is the issue. Big Brother & 1984. All because of the fear-mongering from the far-right racists about illegal immigration. I think they are playing into Farage’s claws with this one.

Why are we now slipping into a surveillance state? First the online safety act where we increasingly need to submit ID to go on websites, not just porn either, Reddit and other sites need it too, eventually it will be all social media. And now it’s universal digital ID

And, what if the database where all this secure digital ID gets leaked or hacked? Putin can just browse through it all on his desk. Or MI5 and police could just link it together, find information and arrest us for going on a demonstration or thought crime etc.

Once you stop fearing immigrants and start questioning the person telling you to fear immigrants you realise the establishment and capitalists are the real enemy of the people, not someone fleeing from persecution on a crammed boat 🚤

@BurningBright it's the globalist agenda at work

No thanks. That's way too much control by the government. I can't imagine anyone would willingly hand over every aspect of their life to the government. I'm sorry, but anyone that wants that, either has no clue about life or is not thinking critically.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@LadyBronte Most people have quite a big electronic footprint but the key is being able to control it and control who gets access to information about us. That's where the other aspects esp the CBDC one will come in.

It would be easier to issue passports to all American citizens, add a page for driving privileges, and have our current driving privileges stamped on the passport.
I do not like the social credit score system, just look at the Authoritarian Totalitarians in the White House now.
specman · 51-55, MVIP
I didn’t know that was coming, but if it is I think it would be too much government power.
It would be a step in the direction for the government controlling you, but I think it is not coming to that.

Anyone will require a 'Britcard' digital ID to have the right to work in the UK. That isn't for just foreigners, but all UK citizens and permanent residents as well.

ie. the government will control your right/ability/privilege/entitlement to have a job. No digital ID - no employment.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@zonavar68 It seems top be what a lot of protesters want: more control over other people. They don't seem to realise that they are 'other people' from my point of view. 🙄
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
I dont have a problem with it, for government purposes. I dont want it required for access to my money..😷
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Well it will be. This just another step towards a cashless society.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Nitedoc Fortunately I am likely to run out of me before I run out of cash..😷
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Likewise, but I think it's coming.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
I don't like it, but I think it's coming.
Remember the mark of the beast!
Social credit coming next.

Lots of people on here "But it will make the world a kinder place"
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic Social credit already exists in China. It has been tested in Darwin here in Australia, and Italy has also been trialing things very similar to it such as a 'smart citizen wallet'. At present (unlike China) the Italian one is 'voluntary' and people can 'opt out'. That's still sneaky as it should be 'opt-in' instead to encourage positive uptake. Keir Starmer in the UK is attempting to implement full digital ID for anyone with a job in the UK before the end of his current term as PM and that will eventually link to social credit systems.
@zonavar68 I can't say I'm suprised with Australia, they are going full on in restricting freedom of speech.

Too risky if malefunction or hacked or misused.
