Want to know how I know that assault rifles aren't like any other gun you can legally purchase?

Try this with any other gun than a Military style assault rifle. Its impossible.

60 people killed, 413 wounded.

You are showing your ignorance about firearms. Go to YouTube and search "speed shooting" . All kinds of guns can be fired rapidly with a little practice, and the average hunting rifle is just as accurate, if not more so, is more powerful, and has more range.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@anythingoes477 That tragic, senseless situation would have been pretty similar if the weapon used was a typical common hunting shotgun.
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@Vin53 And how do you propose to do that?
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@fanuc2013 Absolutely true!
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
Vin, I want to start by saying that I support the ban of extended magazines and other forms of common sense gun control. That being said, you're making inaccurate statements.

I'm a gun owner. I own a 30.06 hunting rifle. Just like an AR-15, it's semi-automatic. It's more accurate than an AR-15 at long range. I could buy an extended magazine for it. I don't own those because I carry it when I'm hunting. Bullets are heavy. My clip is a hunter's clip with only five rounds. It's very rare that I fire a second shot, so I don't need to have 15 or more rounds ready to go.

Should be hunting rifle be considered an assault rifle as part of your post. No one would look at it as such. It looks like a hunting rifle. But with bigger clips, it could have done this too.

@fanuc2013 Tell me one of those guns and I'll mull it over.
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@Vin53 My husband is a competition shooter. During the rapid fire stages of a shooting match, the shooters are req'd to fire 10 rounds in 60 seconds. .223, 30/06, and .308 all fire together and have no problem with the time limits. You are showing your firearms ignorance.
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@Vin53 In "service rifle match" competition, M1 Garand rifles are commonly used in 30/06 . M1A rifles, which are the civilian version of the M14 are used in .308 caliber also known as 7.62 in military terminology. They all fire just as rapidly as one another, and despite the Garand having an eight round clip, It can be reloaded within 3 seconds even by a novice shooter.
People expect Republicans to eventually denounce this killing. Or take some kind of stand...even a feeble one...to appease the public on mass shootings. But the thing is if you are pro gun congressmen that benefits from NRA bribe money to NOT do or say anything....that will NEVER happen. The money is just too good to alienate the NRA. Literally there is no limit on the number of dead children or people that will ever be considered too many........when the amount of money going into Republicans pockets is as great as it is. Does anyone think if 1000 children was killed at once Republicans would say we've had enough of this? How about 2000? 5000? 10,000?

There is no amount of deaths that outweighs the idea in a Republican's mind that if I stand up and say no,......my "contribution" dollars from the NRA will dry up and I won't keep my cushy job.

The ONLY way to put any kind of controls to prevent or slow down mass killings is to make sure Republicans are out of the majority for long enough in the House and Senate for laws to be passed to help.....and they don't have the votes to block it. Past that as long as the GOP has a majority in any federal or state legislative branch.........the killings will continue. And they simply don't care.

At some point voting for party is less important than voting for change. And if you look at GOP decisions and laws ...or the lack of them.......in the past 10 years especially.........it's a fair bet that voting Red will just be more of the same for these killings. "Thoughts and prayers....and screw you if it was one of your loved ones that got killed".

@Diotrephes
1. Gun ownership or possession of guns by people who are not in law enforcement is prohibited and is a Class 3 felony.
@fanuc2013 Yeah i see ypur point. If someone...anyone can pass a law that lasts for even 2 years and it saves some kids that is stupid.......to a trumper.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Vin53 That's a good one for people who want to live in a totalitarian country. It would likely get at least 50 million votes.
@fanuc2013 says
Go to YouTube and search "speed shooting"
Gun magazines are not "arms" they are accessories.

This means that it is completely constitutional to outlaw large magazines, bump stocks, etc. They are in no way protected under the Second Amendment.
Joubertsxxx · 56-60, M
@fanuc2013 My point is: Not accurately
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@Joubertsxxx Define "accurately".

That fucker planned every part. He had carts in the hallway with cameras. He rented two adjoining rooms, he had previously hauled up all his many carts of equipment to his two rooms.

He picked the best 2 rooms facing the concert venue

He picked the 32nd floor, the height that was most likely to richocett at the best angle
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Vin53 That just shows you that while you have your own plans, someone might have some plans that will destroy yours. The people had plans to have fun at a concert. Lots of them ended up dead or wounded.

@Max312 Here is a link to the history of the Mandalay Bay Hotel =

[c=BF0000]Mandalay Bay[/c]
"In February 1998, the project was officially named Mandalay Bay,[18] after the city of Mandalay in Myanmar.[19] The name was also chosen to evoke the exotic tropical romanticism of the poem "Mandalay" by Rudyard Kipling.[20][21] More than a dozen names had been considered for the resort.[22] Mandalay Bay cost $950 million to build,[23] making it the most expensive project to date for Circus Circus.[24] The company expected to spend more than $10 million on a print and television advertising campaign in the months leading up to the resort's opening.[25]"

Its long since been a debate, you either have no problem with these weapons killing people en masse or you don't.

Keep your will up-to-date, write your own obituary, and maintain good life insurance policies on yourself and your immediate family members. Those are some of the things you can control.

What is an assault rifle?
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BeachGirl47 Technically it is a rife capable of firing in semi-automatic mode OR in FULLY AUTOMATIC MODE. A semi auto rifle fires one round each time the trigger is pressed. In fully automatic mode the rifle will continue to rapidly fire continuously, one round after another, as long as trigger is pressed and held down, until the trigger is released or the ammo is completely expended from the magazine.
