Want to know how I know that assault rifles aren't like any other gun you can legally purchase?

Try this with any other gun than a Military style assault rifle. Its impossible.

60 people killed, 413 wounded.

People expect Republicans to eventually denounce this killing. Or take some kind of stand...even a feeble one...to appease the public on mass shootings. But the thing is if you are pro gun congressmen that benefits from NRA bribe money to NOT do or say anything....that will NEVER happen. The money is just too good to alienate the NRA. Literally there is no limit on the number of dead children or people that will ever be considered too many........when the amount of money going into Republicans pockets is as great as it is. Does anyone think if 1000 children was killed at once Republicans would say we've had enough of this? How about 2000? 5000? 10,000?

There is no amount of deaths that outweighs the idea in a Republican's mind that if I stand up and say no,......my "contribution" dollars from the NRA will dry up and I won't keep my cushy job.

The ONLY way to put any kind of controls to prevent or slow down mass killings is to make sure Republicans are out of the majority for long enough in the House and Senate for laws to be passed to help.....and they don't have the votes to block it. Past that as long as the GOP has a majority in any federal or state legislative branch.........the killings will continue. And they simply don't care.

At some point voting for party is less important than voting for change. And if you look at GOP decisions and laws ...or the lack of them.......in the past 10 years especially.........it's a fair bet that voting Red will just be more of the same for these killings. "Thoughts and prayers....and screw you if it was one of your loved ones that got killed".

@anythingoes477 The number of people killed in mass shootings is minimal as a cause of death. The issue is simply a propaganda one that the control freaks like Biden can use to their advanatage to confiscate all of the guns in America so that the people won't be able to defend themselves. If you want to live i a totalitarian nation then give up your guns. Even the people who fouded this country had better sense than that and wrote into their constitution that the people have the right to rebel against tyrants by using guns.

Text of Article 10:
Right of Revolution

Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.[1]"

@anythingoes477 Your logic is flawed. Anything the Democrats pass when they are in the majority can be undone when the Republicans return to the majority. So, what did that solve? There needs to be bi-partisan solutions that will really work!
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@anythingoes477 How many people actually buy guns and go on a killing spree within the hour? So, what is the practical benefit of a three-day waiting period? If someone really wants a gun to use for killing he can simply burglarize a couple of houses and get more than he can use.

@fanuc2013 As I've said countless times, the solution is to change the constitution to reflect the will of the people. The issue needs to be taken out of the hands of the hysterical crybabies. Have a national referendum and put the results in the constitution.
Vin53 · M
@Diotrephes No, no...no...HELL NO.

There's no amendment to the 2nd amendment are you out of your fucking mind?
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Vin53 I am simply saying that since this seems to be a major issue that is dividing the country, there should be a national referendum on it where all of the registered voters get to decide by a majority vote. So, the questions could be:

1. Gun ownership or possession of guns by people who are not in law enforcement is prohibited and is a Class 3 felony.

2. All citizens who are 18 years and older have the right to own and open carry one gun at all times unless prohibited by the respective facility. This right is absolute and there shall be no law by any Congress, State, city, county, or other locality that restricts it in any way.

3. The citizens have the right to keep and bear arms, which right shall not be abridged; but this provision shall not prevent the passage of laws to govern the carrying of weapons concealed on the person nor prevent passage of legislation providing minimum sentences for crimes committed while in possession of a firearm, nor prevent the passage of legislation providing penalties for the possession of firearms by a convicted felon, nor prevent the passage of any legislation punishing the use of a firearm. No law shall impose licensure, registration or special taxation on the ownership or possession of firearms or ammunition. Nor shall any law permit the confiscation of firearms, except those actually used in the commission of a felony.

4.Right to Keep and Bear Arms--Exception
That the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms, ammunition, and accessories typical to the normal function of such arms, in defense of his home, person, family and property, or when lawfully summoned in aid of the civil power, shall not be questioned. The rights guaranteed by this section shall be unalienable. Any restriction on these rights shall be subject to strict scrutiny and the nation of the United States of America shall be obligated to uphold these rights and shall under no circumstances decline to protect against their infringement. [c=BF0000]Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the Congress from enacting general laws which limit the rights of convicted violent felons or those duly adjudged mentally infirm by a court of competent jurisdiction.
[/c]

5. Right to Keep and Bear Arms
Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Congress shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime.

6. Right to Bear Arms
No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No Congress, State, municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms.

7. To Keep and Bear Arms
Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned.

8. Right to Arms
Subject only to the police power, the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

9. Right to Keep and Bear Arms
A citizen has the right to keep and bear arms for the defense of self, family, home and state, and for lawful hunting and recreational use.

10. Right to Bear Arms
The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.

Note: that unless the article includes [c=BF0000]Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the Congress from enacting general laws which limit the rights of convicted violent felons or those duly adjudged mentally infirm by a court of competent jurisdiction.[/c] even nuts and people fresh out of prison will have thr right to bear arms. And, since the articles specify citizens that means that all non-citizens are prohibted from possessing guns anywhere in America.

So, which one of the 10 articles would you vote for to become the new 2nd Amendment?
Vin53 · M
@Diotrephes uhhh...did you read the first paragraph and question?
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Vin53 Of course I did; I wrote it to be a radical choice. Some people would vote for it.

Which one of the 10 choices most closely reflect your view? Do you care to write your own?
Vin53 · M
@Diotrephes
1. Gun ownership or possession of guns by people who are not in law enforcement is prohibited and is a Class 3 felony.
@fanuc2013 Yeah i see ypur point. If someone...anyone can pass a law that lasts for even 2 years and it saves some kids that is stupid.......to a trumper.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Vin53 That's a good one for people who want to live in a totalitarian country. It would likely get at least 50 million votes.
