Something a lot of people don't seem to realize...

"If one group doesn't get due process, nobody does" is not just a slogan, it's a simple fact.

If illegal immigrants don't get a chance to at least argue they are in fact allowed to be in the country before getting deported, then neither do you if a cop calls you one because he doesn't like your face.

There's a good reason the constitution explicitly grants due process to persons and not just citizens. This is that reason.

Here's the fundamental mistake you are making:due process ,depending on the situation,doesn't necessarily entail the right to a hearing or be seen by a judge.For example ,if an illegal alien is caught attempting to sneak into the U.S ,they most certainly do NOT have a right to a trial. Immigration regulations state that they are to be arrested , detained,and immediately sent back to their country of origin.Thats the law;that's the DUE PROCESS.And while it's a little off the subject ,it's funny how progressives weren't worried about due process when the Biden regime was effectively ignoring the law to let them into the country in record numbers .

@DavidT8899 Apparently, "due process" also means that, even where you have had a hearing and it's been determined by a judge to withhold deportation because this immigrant would be in grave danger if they are deported - you don't really need to follow that determination and apply the law to him, either.

Maybe, you'd also support the police turning up on your doorstep with a ticket for that speeding ticket they let you get away with when the last guy was President???

@basilfawlty89 Already there after having snuck in it let in illegally by Biden.And please don't throw around Habeas Corpus like it's some kind of magic shield.All it entitles them to is to have an immigration judge or other authority confirm or believe that they are in fact here illegally (which isn't hard to do)before being shipped out.It does NOT entitle them to a whole battery of trials ,hearings , investigations etc .Don't like it?Take it up with the U.S Immigration and Nationality Enforcement Code.

@DavidT8899 awww, you sound mad.

It doesn't matter what you allege Biden did.
The fact is Habeas Corpus applies.
You don't even want to verify that they're undocumented, just being brown and Spanish speaking is enough for your lot.

Also - Constitution supercedes any other laws. If a law is unconstitutional, it's invalid. This is basic law. Consider buying a book on civics.

@DavidT8899 Does there have to be??? The most noteworthy deportation was Kilmar Armando Abrego García though...
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@basilfawlty89 Noooo,not mad ,just shaking my head at how some people apply or ignore the law according to their own preferences.🙄I don't ALLEGE what Biden did;he clearly DID it -and the fact that you ignore the obvious due process and legal violations in doing so tells us all we need to know about you.The next portion of your response shows that you didn't read a word of what I said.I never claimed that they didn't qualify for due process ,I merely pointed out that the process isn't a barrier to their speedy removal from the country.Kick them out for being brown and Spanish?No,kick them out for being illegal.In a hearing before a judge ,it's not hard to determine whether someone is here illegally or not.And seeing how immigration is not a right enshrined or even mentioned in the Constitution,your last point is entirely irrelevant.
@DavidT8899 how exactly does that "fatal flaw" change how what applies to them applies to you the moment someone calls you an illegal immigrant?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@DavidT8899

Habeas Corpus is guaranteed.
If no one gets a hearing, guilt can't be ascertained.

Try again.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@basilfawlty89 Don't have to try again.I already said they get a hearing My point is that said hearing doesn't have to be lengthy or drawn out to establish illegality and to quickly deport.I very clearly spelled that out in my last post.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@DavidT8899 cute, many people were detained and sent to a glorified concentration camp before they even got a hearing.

All for the crime of...picking fruit and selling oranges?

Btw undocumented immigration is a civil matter, not a criminal matter. It's a misdemeanour, not a felony.
@DavidT8899 nobody claimed the hearing had to be lengthy. All I said that if illegal immigrants are denied even a short one, anyone can be denied one simply by calling them an illegal immigrant. I still don't see any explanation of how that logic is flawed in your opinion.
