Did people overreact to Trump and excessively demonize him?

or was it fair and just?

Yes and no. You can demonize him for representing ideas you dislike.

Get over it- his ideas won.

You can demonize him for being a boorish narcissist who hasn't done nearly enough to convince America or the world that he isn't a (witting or unwitting) Russian stooge.

If so, you are right on the money.

He doesn't have to prove he isn't a "Russian stooge". Those who planted the idea in your head need to prove he is. Pretty simple but actually what is hilarious is that you people didn't give a flying fuck about Russia until the idea that he "could" have Russian ties was planted in your heads. This is what hillary was referring to when she said democrat constituents were easily manipulated and too stupid to know it.

@katielass: he doesn't have to "prove" it. He just has to stop acting like one. And look, I know about the cold war, and I don't believe that it stopped in 1991. So, yeah, Russia was a problem in American history, and could still be one.

If the charges were baseless, and until Trump opened his mouth, I thought they were, then there are some pretty obvious and painless things he could do to defuse the issue.

He hasn't done those things. Why not? a) they are true; b) he doesn't understand what he is doing.

Pick your poison.

And, the idea that the Russians are a perpetual Democratic bogeyman is, to anybody who knows anything about the last 100 years in America, really, really 😆
