Bad press during an election season is not the best idea.

I'm sure Donald Trump will be overjoyed by your support.🙄

@newjaninev2 You could say the same thing to a much greater degree when the other guy was on the office .We will have to see how it turns out .
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
This his one of the rare times I support his decision.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
Pity. It would have made good tv.

As if it was his choice.

I wish he'd cancelled because it was an appalling idea by Hegseth, but we know it was only to try and avoid losing any more votes in the Mid terms. He's stii irreedemable.
bijouxbroussard · F
@22Michelle Agreed. It’s just another example of him taking action not because it was correct, but purely because of optics. 🙄
Bumbles · 56-60, M
He made a political calculation, nothing more.

@ChipmunkErnie rump hegshit and miller will be having a circle jerk.

Only because he learned the guy is in a wheelchair. It might hurt his already dismal midterm prospects.

@newjaninev2 Trump's approval rating hit 31%. Let's get it in the twenties.
Waveney · M
@newjaninev2 I don't think so. Trump is becoming so cartoonish in his villainy that even MAGA are beginning to see through him. There is absolutely no doubt at all this time that when the Dems win back the House and the Senate Trump will be impeached (take your pick of the charges), and this time he will be convicted, removed, and hopefully jailed.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@Waveney I'm sure they will .They fact that there is no evidence that he is guilty of any impeachable offenses ,let alone felonies ,will no doubt not stop them .It didn't before.Heck,I wouldn't be surprised if they go after him for the color of his tie .

Just pretend they are shooting a health care provider, that will make you feel better

@sunsporter1649 Lemme repeat myself: I did not in any way support or celebrate the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
I did not in any way support or celebrate the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
I did not in any way support or celebrate the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
With that said, I need to point out here that he was in no way whatsoever a health care "provider."
Doctors, nurses, surgeons, and hospitals are workers whose main purpose is to diagnose, treat, and heal patients. Their daily metric of success is patient health outcomes and recovery. They are healthcare providers.
Brian Thompson's main purpose was finding every way possible to deny coverage to patients who had bought insurance from his company. He was a healthcare denier, not a provider.
For example: here's a class-action lawsuit accusing UnitedHealthcare and its subsidiary naviHealth of using an automated AI model (nH Predict) to wrongfully deny post-acute and extended care for elderly Medicare Advantage patients.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/unitedhealth-lawsuit-ai-deny-claims-medicare-advantage-health-insurance-denials/
Here's lots more data on illegal & unethical denial of coverage.
https://www.economicliberties.us/data-tools/unitedhealth-group-abuse-tracker/#
Again, though I do not celebrate his death, the sad fact is that UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was a healthcare denier, not a provider.

And, to further underline my position, look a the outcome. NOTHING CHANGED!!

In August 2025, The New York Times examined the consequences of Trump pushing Texas Republicans to redistrict, leading Democrats to talk about fighting "fire with fire." The Times wrote: "One person close to the president, who insisted on anonymity to describe the White House's political strategy candidly, summed it up succinctly: "Maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time."
After the Virginia vote, Jeffries repeated the Trump ally’s words verbatim in an April 21 X post, "Democrats defeated Donald Trump’s gerrymandering scheme in Virginia tonight. We will crush the DeSantis Dummymander in Florida next. Maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time."
