Whatcom County Retail: Before recent trade disputes, Canadian shoppers spent roughly $140 million a year in Whatcom County alone, making up nearly 12% of the county's total taxable retail sales. This is the County that shares all the border crossings with Canada.
Border Traffic Drops: Southbound vehicle crossings from British Columbia into Washington state dropped by roughly 35% to 43% compared to previous baseline years, heavily cutting into local gas, grocery, and package-pickup revenue
Business Distress: Surveys by the Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce and Western Washington University’s Border Policy Research Institute indicate that over 50% of surveyed local businesses faced major revenue drops, with food, beverage, and retail outlets reporting steep declines.
As a Washington State citizen, I feel at home in British Columbia.
Edit: I should say that most of the traffic is Whatcom County, but there are some additional minor crossings, and those in Ferry County are pretty rural and isolated and some other crossings are seasonal.

Canada's retaliatory tariffs on a range of US goods came into effect on Tuesday, with no sign of a trade deal on the horizon.

Just to use one US State (and it's a small one in terms of population) North Dakota lost $57 (!!!) million in Canadian tourism revenue last year. That's a lot for a small state that depends on it. Projections for this year are even worse, and not just in this state, but all others as well.

@funfan yeah it's a shame it has come to this. i'm less than 30 minutes away from the us border but i haven't crossed it in god knows how long....we would hop over for a weekend and play golf in washington state...not any more.... perhaps things will change when you elect your next president
