People keep pretending party history doesn’t exist, so here are the facts

• Confederacy → Democrats

• Segregationists like Bull Connor → Democrats

The Republican Party was founded to oppose slavery.
First Republican president? Abraham Lincoln.

Republicans helped pass: • 13th Amendment
• 14th Amendment
• 15th Amendment

Abolish slavery, establish equal civil rights, and protect the right to vote for newly emancipated Black Americans.

Cruz also argued that modern Democrats push racial gerrymandering and act like minorities can only win through race-based districts.

Meanwhile:

Cruz’s point: "you're not black if your not a liberal Democrat" minorities do not need racial gerrymandering to succeed politically, and Democrats have a long history of racial politics while accusing everyone else of it.
