The COMAC C919, a narrow-body passenger jet designed to directly compete with the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families. The jet officially entered commercial service in 2023 with China Eastern Airlines. COMAC C929, a wide-body, long-range airliner currently in the design phase, is intended to eventually rival the Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
However, Chinese planes lack type certification from the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency). This is the way the west blocks price competition from China.
