@hippyjoe1955

I didn't read this post below before I made a reply.

It is. I reject the idea that Jesus was an apostate Jew as well.

According to the Christian Bible, the High Priest of Jerusalem, the authority on Hebrew scripture, condemned Jesus for blasphemy. Is that not so?

Nothing personal but I believe that Jesus was fully God and thus was not under any religious constraints. The Jews were chosen by Him as a priestly people and to offer the sacrifice of atonement. Jesus was the sacrifice

You believe that the Jews are a chosen people? Are you saying that Jesus' crucifixion was preordained and that it was an atonement for our sins?

@sree251 Among many other charges blaspheme was indeed one of the charges. The problem being that Jesus to them was a man who said He was God. That by definitions used by Jews was blaspheme. The problem being what if Jesus spoke the Truth?

Jews were chosen for the purpose of offering the blood sacrifice of Jesus but once that purpose was accomplished they became no different than any other human. If you are in Christ you are chosen since you can not be in Christ except that He chose you. If you are not in Christ then you are not accepting of God's chosenness.

@hippyjoe1955 The Amish porta potties are not cleaned by specialized service technicians using vacuum trucks to remove waste, followed by a thorough cleaning process. This involves disinfecting the entire interior with sanitizing spray, scrubbing surfaces (seat, tank, walls), pressure washing, and replenishing the holding tank with fresh water, blue deodorizer, and supplies.

Also, the Amish "porta potty" is made of wood and look weathered over the years.

@sree251 This world is kind of like a school. We are placed here as God's children to learn about Good and Evil. Evil people do evil things and the Only Good God does Good things. When we humans set out to create or cause evil results. Look at our human governments and the stupid wars they entangle themselves in. God's Goodness endures. Look at the world and its inter connectedness of all life forms. It endures. This world is not the end of humanity and we will move on to a permanent place where God's Goodness will by fully manifested as evil is destroyed.

We are digressing. Jesus, according to the Christian Bible, came and was crucified in 0 AD. And you say he returned in 70 AD. Did anything extraordinary happened?

@sree251 You mean other than the destruction of the old covenant and the institution of the New Covenant? Where do you get the idea that Jesus is being depressed? Honest question. I can't find it in the Bible so maybe you have a new insight I need.

The Amish have never caused any problems for anyone. I absolutely support their right to religious freedom.

They are kind, peaceful people
sree251 · 41-45, M
@missyann The Amish are as human as everybody else. And people, generally, are nasty.

Umm, I do not know where you live in the United States of America, but I live in the state of Ohio in Jackson County, and I have hundreds of friends that are Amish and been to their homes and farm steads. All of them are on county water and county sewer systems by county Law! A matter of fact speaking all county Health Departments in Ohio mandate by law the use of septic or county waste disposal. Ohio also has the largest Amish population than any other state in the Union. They use the same modern bathroom that hopefully you do, and they shower daily as well (Their hot water heater in their homes is wood fired but they have hot water). And yes, they pay for the county water and sewer bills like you and I do. I was lucky enough to buy a farm with well water and had to put in a new septic system in 2018 at the cost of $13,000, the Amish here would have the same expense for their septic system installs that I had that had to be approved by the county health department and inspected upon completion.

Now when I drove an Amish couple out to IOWA to see their family it was as you described, so do not say all when you speak and speak what you have certified knowledge about.

Yes, that's what I meant.

Did I say anything about Jesus being depressed?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@sree251 You mentioned humanity depressing Jesus according to Christian teachings. I have never heard that before. Just curious where you learned that.

I don't think many people realize how much of what we consider high morals comes from Christianity. We banned slavery because of Christianity. etc etc etc.

Can you show me the quote? I can't find it.

The Romans were savage as were those people of other cultures 2000 years ago. Apparently, Christianity played a large part in civilizing the western world.

I'm not Amish, but I am in my own limited way, a history nerd.

That being said, I've studied the Amish and their anti-technological way of life as a way of gaining a historical perspective on some of the aspects of early pioneer living from the days of English colonization of the Americas in the early 1600's all the way up to the Western Movement of the mid-to-late 1870's.

@Sidewinder Read my statement I wrote, I do not study them I live and I am friends with and live around a large Amish community.

Even skunks can live around Amish folks. The Amish people are pacifists.

Why is it anyone else's business where or what people use for a toilet so long as it is on their property and not posing a health risk to others?

Apparently, the outhouses must be visible to others living in the vicinity.

@sree251 So they have never heard of porta potties?

@whowasthatmaskedman Within the context of practicing a spiritual faith, I would agree with you. Whatever religion each practices, it is a personal matter. However, life is more than bread alone, as Jesus said. The supply of that bread is now being jeopardized by the Iran war. Human survival and well-being cannot be assured without moral human conduct. Why should you or I care if nobody else gets to eat as long as we are fed? The point to Jesus teaching is that nobody gets to eat unless all gets to eat.
@sree251 On the face of it I totally accept every word you say..BUT..Lets for a second consider is not Jesus, but L.Ron Hubbard said those words instead, so they didnt have a holy writ on them. Then lets consider the lion chasing down the antelope to feed the pride.
Issues like this, as ethically clear as they might be to any reasonable people, get muddied pretty quickly. It isnt American oil. Much of it is Iranian bound for other places. And all oil was flowing happily enough before America kicked off the game. Finally, the Iranians are not substantially blockading the Strait. Its just that global insurance companies have withdrawn insurance cover, because of the risk. Its hardly an Atlantic convoy situation..
And the whole thing gets really Darwinian if you dont happen to believe in a God..
I gwet you dont like paying more to live and drive.. But Iranians dont like being bombed either..😷
