DOJ tells Trump he can hold onto government docs when he leaves office

A memo from the DOJ says President Donald Trump no longer has to follow a Watergate-era law barring him from holding on to presidential records when he leaves office.

The DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel issued an opinion Thursday that said the Presidential Records Act is unconstitutional.

“the President need not further comply with its dictates,” the opinion said.

Let's see what SCOTUS says about this.

It will be interesting if SCOTUS even hears any law suits against it.

They'll be booked solid for years at this rate.

Let's drain the swamp! That being Trump.

Why ever would he want to hang on to government documents? . . . 🤔

@SunshineGirl Trophies with his name on them. To show to his friends how indebted they are to him.

Proof of indebtness.

@SunshineGirl so no one can read them....

@Convivial No doubt there are duplicates of Trump's original documents, if only to give to his subordinates, to follow his directives.

He has said it often enough, he trusts no one.

He may value loyalty. Yet loyalty is a matter of after the fact.

I can see this leading to a whole raft of original, incriminating documents being squirreled away from prying eyes.... I mean seriously why not just make him king and reintroduce the divine right of Kings and save any future hassles...
