That is ridiculous! For example, if you take the subway in Paris, you see heavily armed cops all the time! And I don't find it the least bit intimidating ! I find it rather comforting! The same in Rome, you see the Carabinieri patrolling on their motorcycles, and I saw one of them open his saddlebag and there was a submachine gun inside! I wasn't intimidated at all!
