Teen Shot Dead After Shooting Seller’s Relative During Marketplace Robbery Attempt

CICERO, IL — A teenage boy was fatally shot after allegedly attempting to rob another teen during a social media-arranged sale on Wednesday afternoon, according to town officials.

The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of South 58th Avenue during a planned transaction between two teenagers. According to a report from ABC7 Chicago, as the intended seller walked away from the failed sale, a third teen approached and tried to forcibly take the item, prompting a struggle.

A relative of the seller, who was waiting in a nearby vehicle, intervened but was shot twice by the suspected robber. That relative, who was armed, returned fire, striking the suspect once. The relative was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in stable condition.

Shortly afterward, a teen later identified as 17-year-old Angel Dominguez arrived at Rush Oak Park Hospital with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead soon after. Police believe he was the individual who attempted the robbery.

Cicero police continue to investigate the incident and noted that their police department is a designated safe zone for in-person marketplace exchanges.

@SunshineGirl They certainly seem incapable of helping themselves. So sad to read about yet more young lives wasted - in all senses of that word.
@SunshineGirl The problem is that modern youth were not raised right, I BLAME my own generation the most, too many of my Gen X peers brag that raised ourselves, which is true, as some sort of aggreviance, which is true, most of us had no guidance ourselves, we were feral, wild in the streets, but without guidance ourselves most of my peers did not know how to properly raise or guide their own children, which as an end result the younger generations have never learned respect or manners, because MY generstion taught THEM that respect is not automatic, that manners do not matter. Even though my Dad died a couple months before I turned 11 in early 1981, he did teach me a lot, my own mother on the other hand did her own thing, never taught my older brothers or myself how to use the washing machine, we often went to school with dirty clothes, while she bought herself expensive clothes and shoes, my brothers and me got cheap sears and kmart clothes and shoes. I know exactly where this violence comes from, my own peers started the snowball rolling.

@NativePortlander1970 Can't be easy writing that kind of self-assessment. Thank you.
@FreddieUK You are so very welcome, the boomers are just as much to blame for failing to properly raise and guude my generstiin, specially with the epidemic of divorces and broken homes, I blame my generstional peers for going nuclear revenge, starting the millennial boomer war as retaliation.

There are some who have tried that here. So far with only limited success, fortunately.
@FreddieUK I am glad it mostly fizzled out.

@FreddieUK A fellow Gen X'er that never got past the Peter Pan stage, he apparently never grew up, along with a generation zoomer that blames us for modern times.
