Democrats fold in the shutdown clash

On the third of October I wrote
Well, turned out I was right, Congressional Democrats foolishly overplayed their hands, and wasted a real opportunity to gain some limited leverage over the President by demanding a critical concession that would’ve been broadly supported by many Congressional Republicans as well - such as aid to Ukraine. What a pity.
