It's the fault of chuck shumer. How dare he refuse to make the choice between healthcare and food. Doesn't he know that the republicans will negotiate healthcare in good faith once the democrats have no leverage?
Trump is actively inflicting pain on his own people. Blaming it on the left.
What do desperate, armed to the teeth, people do? They don't sell their guns for food...

The Democrats only need 7 votes to open the government. Maybe you should call your local Democrat senators, if you have any and ask them why they won't vote to open the government.
Then it's out of Trump's hands.
Then it's out of Trump's hands.
@jackjjackson if you been paying attention the members of the senate has been meeting the whole time, it’s the House of Representatives Who aren’t interested in coming to DC. ( Mike Johnson leader of the republican House of Representatives and only does what the president wants) New members of whom won newly appointed members must be installed before the session starts.
Newly elected members have already made it clear upon day one to have vote on the Epstein files.
I don’t do conspiracy theories just the facts.
Facts me at Fox News. If you care leave this place for a couple hours. Not time to invest if and only if you are interested. Other wise don’t call me out

Those who support him agree with him and Make it a point to blame the Democrats. The world is watching and from what I read the US is probably the only country that has government shutdowns and it is characterized that the US has poor government

@Charity
I can see how triggered you've become
Focusing on trump trying to confuse the issue
As for firing workers Biden fired ALL those working on the pipeline but NOBODY cares ... why .... because the hatred for Trump is ALL they focus on regardless of the topic
Biden's frequent travel to Delaware during his presidency also incurred significant security expenses for taxpayers
Presidential travel costs are not unique to recent presidents. Government watchdog reports have examined travel expenses for administrations including Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, finding significant costs associated with both domestic and international trips.
Barack Obamas personal trips over eight years were reported to cost taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.
George W. Bush spent a total of 879 vacation days during his presidency, many at his Texas ranch or family home in Maine. Rough estimates for just the Air Force One flights to his Crawford, Texas ranch amounted to about $124.7 million. His total travel costs over eight years were estimated at $140 million.
I probably could go on & on
ACA is so expensive that if people didn't get subsidies they couldn't afford it
The cost of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to taxpayers varies, but specific provisions like the enhanced premium tax credits are a significant expense. For instance, a proposed permanent extension of these credits was estimated to cost taxpayers $383 billion over 10 years, increasing the budget deficit by $335 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO)
This is only part of the cost of the ACA
Medicade & Medicare already existed so they only had to change who was eligible for it and NOT create the ACA monster
I'm paying taxes so others can use ACA so it's not an option to just not use it
I've worked very hard to get my medical coverage which costs MORE due to ACA & my converge has gone down because of it
U.S. Presidents absolutely try to influence Congress as a central part of their job, using both formal constitutional powers and informal methods of persuasion. The U.S. system of checks and balances requires interaction and negotiation between the executive and legislative branches to pass legislation and govern effectively.
Presidents employ a variety of strategies to persuade members of Congress and advance their legislative agenda:
Of course i don't know you and my comments are based on your posts
Delusional not because you disagree with me but because you don't understand how the president functions and insist Trump is the ONLY president trying to influence congress
Maybe take a civics class or something that will teach you the President's job etc

SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@kittee On a similar note, I never understand why people from the UK think their ignorance about America is a virtue, instead of a disadvantage.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@SumKindaMunster Thanks, gone.

Anyone who thinks this won't be remembered in November, 2026 better think again. Millions of these affected people are in Red states.

@MoveAlong If we can vote freely w/o military intervention / martial law called
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@SomeMichGuy I believe we'll have elections but I'm concerned about troops and alt right types invading blue precincts to suppress the vote. .
SomeMichGuy · M
@MoveAlong Agreed.

@Jackaloftheazuresand LOL, that's not the way it works. But if you're a little short I understand.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@MoveAlong What's not the way it works?
@ElwoodBlues you’re absolutely right and will be right because we have as of yet not heard the words from his lips making the following statement or words: release the funds, all of it! so my people can feed themselves, mister speaker of the house, Mike Johnson.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
Wrong again
SomeMichGuy · M
It's sad that anyone with the responsibility of that office would do this, and even worse that people would applaud / support this.

The Party of Family Values, aka Guardians of Pedophiles (GOP)
don't care if their voters starve or lose their healthcare benefits.
They support the uber rich.
They promised their wealthy supporters a big tax break and that's what they are getting, at the expense of the middle class and poor.
They don't care who starves or dies.
They're fine and that's all that matters to them.

The shutdown can be ended by the democrats. This is causing lots of problems and it's a democrat problem ! Not TRUMP's problem.

@pdockal MAGA is a cult and the GOP is MAGA. If Trump told the GOP to commit mass suicide on the floor of congress they would.

@pdockal It is objectively true. The GOP is a blind cult to Trump and has been for years now.

The president has no control over the shut down
Only congress does

Typical right wing despot. Starve people if they don't allow him to take healthcare away from people so they die for being poor anyway.
