There's never been real freedom as that's just an artificial concept within legislative and geo-political walls.

Proper freedom is realising that some things transcend all that, though corporate greed seeks to control everything and take away unfettered access to that which makes us truly earth beings.

Yes, but only if you consider the context of the time. Freedom is kinda a spectrum. I think it's insane that drugs and prostitution are illegal, but I'll still say America is a free country, since when compared to other countries, Americans have more rights.
At one point, homosexuality was illegal in a lot of states. But during that time, banning homosexuality and other forms of gender non-conformity was very common.

@meJess that is not true, they do have voting rights in their conus home of record, and pay taxes there. Even servicemembers are subject. The. Last home of record before I went overseas in the Navy was New York City. Although I was in Iceland, i paid both NY State and City taxes, but voted in NY.

It's all relative.. What level of freedom does a particular nation allow it's people? Some nations grant very little some grant more..

@Reason10 No I didn't mean what you are assuming I meant. Women did not have the freedom to vote until 1920. African Americans had to sit at the back of a bus and give their seat up to white people right up to 1956, long live the memory of Rosa Parks. Your war heroes that are living on the street with severe mental illness and lost limbs. There are a lot of other things too.

Low information (sometimes low IQ individuals) confuse the term FREEDOM with the phrase FREE STUFF.

Prisons make it possible for law abiding citizens to live in freedom.
No prisons? Would it be safe to leave your house in the morning? Would the roads be safe with no cops?

Freedom, liberty, THE RULE OF LAW, and free market capitalism give America the greatest freedom in the world, along with the highest standard of living.
