Democrats Declare Gerrymandering Bad Until They Need To Gerrymander Again

Congressional Democrats announced today that they are very much opposed to electoral gerrymandering up until the time when they will need to do it themselves, at which point they'll support it again.

"This is not a decision we make lightly, but it is one we make with absolute moral clarity," state legislatorGene Wu told reporters. "We strongly condemn these redistricting efforts until the time comes again when fellow democrats in other states need to gerrymander their own districts, and then at that point we will strongly support it."

Following Texas's new redistricting efforts, Democratic leaders in the state fled the legislative session in an attempt to delay and thwart what they believe to be a gross miscarriage of political power, at least until they can get away with it themselves, at which point they said they'll gladly support it.

"Sure, California, Illinois, and other deep blue states have been gerrymandering Republican voters out of power for decades, but this is bad because now Republicans are doing it, and we just hate it when they do stuff we've been doing forever," Wu said.

"NO CAP!" shouted Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.

At publishing time, Texas Democrats announced that they will stay out of the state for as long as it takes to prevent the redistricting votes to take effect, or until they get bored and need to come home to water their plants.

Trump decided that TX needed to gerrymander because "I'm entitled to it."

I thought you Trumpettes were against entitlements.

How about we end gerrymandering nation wide and have independent groups redraw the state maps?

@sunsporter1649 Would you support ending gerrymandering nation wide?
Wait until the left figures out they're gonna lose even more seats via deportations 😁
Faux outrage continues..
the scrapping of the bottom of the barrel.

Doesnt it suck to know you havent got any honest politicians on either side??😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@BohemianBabe And the only way to do that is to take the process completely out of the hands of political appointees..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman How would that work? We could have more direct democracy, more referendums, but we can't have a referendum on every issue. We kinda need political appointees.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@BohemianBabe OK. Its a process. Start with Judges not being appointed and confirmed by politicians. Then the judges can vet proposals for redistributions. Computer models and AI can also run those options with algorithms to check for bias. 😷

@BohemianBabe The problem is that if something isnt guarded against, someone will do it to win. Thats how we got where we are.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Yeah, that goes back to my argument that we need more laws to protect democracy. But when it comes to political appointees as a concept, we're kinda stuck with them.

@BohemianBabe You need to justly enforce the laws you already have. Trump should be in jail for those NY fraud charges delayed to neverland by Judge Canon.😷
