As always dems are telling lies of omission.

According to surveys this year, dems hold 70% of the nation’s wealth.

What more power and wealth do they want?

Like the communists they copy, they want all of the power over a destitute nation.
@MarthannBann888 The only person lying is you. Elon is a Democrat now? WHy? Because he hurt you cult leader's feelings?

Literally none of that has anything to do with the subject.

Umm no. You can be billionaires or communists. You literally cannot be both. But you just throw around words you have no idea what they mean.

And it is the GOP robbing the poorest people in the US to give it to billionaires like Trump and Elon. So MAGA is make Americans poor....except the oligarchs.

@MarthannBann888 If that is true, why is Trump so determined to enrich them further through unfunded tax breaks?

I have read your posts and appreciate your position which is based on your understanding of the information you have acquired.

I would not agree that your position is the only one, or the best one.
Our tax laws do have a system which taxes the very rich at higher rate than everybody else. The very rich also pay way over half of the taxes collected.
The trick is, don’t tax them out of business or the rest of us lose our jobs.
And, don’t punish them out of hatred and call them oligarchs.
I don’t think anyone would like it if they made the ranks of the very rich, and all of it was taken away.
I also know that there are loopholes in these laws. And, I also know that, like the tax laws, the laws are all made by congress and signed by the president. And, democrats have had just as much influence, or more influence, than republicans.

@MarthannBann888 Oh both Republicans and Democrats are very much complicit in the rise of this neoliberal system (although it was mostly Reagan who started it, and Obama who could have ended it), which can only end, unless we change, with one person owning absolutely everything, and all Earth's ecosystems having collapsed. But just remember, that although we don't need billionaires in our life, they sure as hell need us. They're the ones who grow rich from our work.

The way I've had to explain it to people is like this, if you won a large sum of money, would you start spending right away, or would you wait until expenses came up? I figure most people would be buying or upgrading things, paying off debts, and maybe taking a nice vacation

The reality is that the business class would use the money saved from tax cuts right away to expand or fund different initiatives. It does provide a lot of economic activity and new jobs for about a year and a half, maybe 2 years, but eventually these businesses spent all they cared to spend and then economic activity goes down.

That's how trickle-down economics has always worked. The phenomena was studied 100 years before Reagan tried his hand at it. GDP did grow for like 2 years after Reagan's tax cuts, but then growth started slowing more and more until it actually shrunk at the end of his term, leading to the Savings and Loan Crisis

I remember first hearing about it in 4th grade and thinking it made now sense. Give the rich tax breaks and then they use that extra wealth for others? Since when do the rich care about others?
JonUK41 · 36-40, M
@iamthe99 Fine in theory but as noted you'd have to rely on government spending the money wisely.

In the UK we've never had a government that effectively implemented a tax and spend policy in the last 50 years. There's no sign we'd ever have a government I'd trust with more of my money.

So best that government takes less of our money. If you're a wealthy person you can always give more of your money to worthy causes - you don't need to wait for government to tax you more.

@JonUK41 Then our problems will continue. Cutting taxes and unshackling the market, which Reagan and Thatcher started in the 1980s, have only made the rich richer and the poor poorer. Tax cuts have not led to wealth creation for all in any country that I can think of.
JonUK41 · 36-40, M
@iamthe99 Until we get a competent government - which I can't see happening.

It's going to be down to wealthy/intelligent people like you to step up contribute more money and, more importantly, provide education/guidance to people less fortunate.
That just isn't true, it's the wealthy blue states that pay more than they receive in tax dollars, all so the unproductive welfare red states will have enough money to continue to be unproductive.
You're omitting a whole lot of effort to keep the con going, though, gerrymandering, alternate facts, alliances with various racist factions, the Federalist Society, and all kinds of nutjobs and criminals wanting to get in on the action.

It doesn’t work. Goes against human nature.
Or the rich piss on you and tell you it is raining gold.
