Abuse of Authority

Six days ago, ICE raided several locations and detained several undocumented day labourers in Compton and Paramount. The arrests made were viewed as acts of aggression by ICE. This unwise move triggered protests in Downtown LA. Almost every news channel has confirmed that the protest was peaceful, but on June 7 some protestors and federal forces clashed during raids because this aggressive move of the government was seen as unnecessary.

The tension that LA is witnessing today could have been avoided had President Trump not ordered the deployment of 2000 National Guard troops. To worsen things further, the silly man moved 700 marines to LA. Mr. Trump claims that as per Title 10, it was needed to control the violent mobs, protect federal personnel, and prevent further lawlessness. Really, Mr. Trump? We all saw what offended the people. Yes! It was the aggressive move of law and order authorities. An Australian news reporter was shot with a rubber bullet while she was reporting the ongoing tension.

Governor Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass criticised the actions of the President and called the deployment unconstitutional. As a matter of fact, both described the move as forced federalisation and abuse of authority because the decision made was never discussed with the state. Residents and local officials confirmed that the protests were peaceful, and local law authorities were managing the protests well.

This is becoming a trend now. Anytime people withstand or question Trump's administration, they are stopped forcefully. It is evident now that President Trump hates protests and likes to intimidate protestors for no reason.

The United States of America is transitioning from democracy to autocracy, gradually. There's no denying that now.

Mayor Bass claims that deployment of the National Guard and Marines didn't pacify the situation. It worsened it, rather. I wish President Trump is held accountable for aggravating the protestors and misuse of authority.

It doesn't surprise me why most MAGA supporters are regretting voting for Trump.

Illegal immigration is indeed a major concern for many countries, but is this kind of aggressive approach necessary to stop it? I don't think so. Tighten the border patrol if illegal immigration bothers you a lot. No one will question that. What good did the massive wall do if there are still illegal immigrants in the USA today? It means you have culprits within your system and administration.

Gov. Newsom (and City of LA officials) is complicit in the chaos happening in California right now.

But, Gov. Newsom isn't wrong on these points:
President Trump has fired government watchdogs who could hold him accountable.
President Trump is delegitimizing news organizations.
President Trump did call for the arrest of a sitting governor, saying it was "for getting elected."
President Trump is seeking blanket authority over the National Guard, applying it to all states.

IMO deploying the Marines and the National Guard is an undo escalation that resulted in incremental violence on the side of the protesters. The LAPD could have stopped this - - but they fucked it up again like so many times before. By deploying the National Guard, President Trump will create a crisis and an opportunity to institute marshal law. This is critical for President Trump to eliminate political opponents, silence his critics and assume absolute authority over LA and the State of California.

None of what is happening in LA right now needed to happen. LA city officials fucked this up, again! City officials should have clearly communicated ICE lawful purpose carrying out warrants. The City should have engaged community leaders to work with ICE and carry out those lawful warrants publicly and peacefully. LAPD should have been out in the community working with ICE and those community leaders too ( again, openly and peacefully! )

LA politicians and the California Governors office let this situation happen for their own selfish political reasons and they should be punished for it.

President Trump will use this crisis as opportunity for regime change.

Now the people of LA, and California, are seriously fucked.

My hope is NY State learns from California's example and does it differently.

Was putting the citizens of California and of LA in the middle of a ideological battle between Gov Newsom and President Trump the right thing to do?

IMO Gov Newsom and LA City Officials did not have to take the bait from President Trump and they had many opportunities to avoid a crisis. The situation could have been de-escalated. The battle of political egos did not have to result in street violence and military occupation of California and LA.

Plan 2025 intention and purpose is to install President Trump as defacto authority over the Government, the courts and all apparatus. The results of the election on Nov 4 2024 were clear and decisive. America failed an open book test, and here we are.

@tenente The problem is the options we are presented to choose from. They've sucked for 30 years and grown ever farther from the center. We are truly choosing our perceived lesser of evils more often than not. Our political parties and govt are failing us across the board.

I'm not denying Trump's faults .. but Biden is beyond senile and Harris would push even further left than the mess of the last 4 yrs.

Not going to apologize I'm more comfortable deporting illegals than continuing on a 3MM a year clip of new illegals coming in without immigration due process.

Not going to apoligize for being against gender transition of children to further a social agenda for 1% of the population that is so rife w mental illness.

I'm not pretending bioligical men are women or belong in a women's restroom, women's locker room or women's athletic competitions.

I do not see why pushing these liberal social agendas down the throats of mainstream America should be at the forefront of American politics or govt policies.

No putting local interests citizens and residents under the authority of uninformed politicains should not be okay. It was DJT that used that moment to get free press coverage. The governor was forcdd to waste time and resources when confronted by a hostile Mr. Trump.
Again it was to DJT's benefit. Free air time.
Idk if they "had to take the bait" but Trump showed up snd forced the issue.
Furthernore the president escalated the situation (deploying federal troops). The results of the election were not definitive the appartus in place tonprevent a "hostile takeover" by ill willed actors, were circumvented. The results are clear. Old established players, in this case mostly light skinned aristocratic and "above the law" (by "money"?) Are granted immunity despite violating laws while being recorded.
