California gas prices to spike 75%. Bureaucrats rant at each other to shift blame.

In a democracy, people deserve the government they elect. But suppose most of the laws come from a permanent bureaucracy which is largely beyond the reach of governors and senators? That’s the twilight zone California finds itself in right now, as politicians like state assemblyman David Alvarez try to shift the blame from themselves to state agencies. (see link below).

California already has the highest gas prices in the nation (if you don’t count Hawaii) with an average of $4.80 a gallon. In many counties it’s already in the mid-$5 range. Politicians are flipping out, as their aides are saying there’s NO WAY they can be re-elected if gas prices reach $8.50 - $9.00 a gallon. They’d all get thrown out of office and have to get real jobs.

The immediate reason for this gasoline panic is the closure of 2 more refineries by state regulators. The state already imports 70% of the gasoline it uses. The end game here by regulators is probably to drive that to 99% of gas supplied from "someplace else". Texas and Oklahoma? Hey, Hernando . . . if you didn’t buy an EV and also install a solar panel on your roof . . . screw you!

California’s political class is backpedaling as fast as it can. No way do they want to be held accountable for whatever happens next. But if you think the governor and legislature are about to throw a lifeline to Chevron and Valero, think again. California officials' new plan is to build government owned and operated oil refineries. Because, you know, as career politicians they just KNOW that the government can do stuff better than the private sector. That's how Los Angeles got a $750,000 a year "water czar" whose first official act was to drain a reservoir during fire season. Imagine how high taxes will go if they build government owned oil refineries.

I’m just sayin’ . . .

No time to read the post hopefully later but the syatem is externalizing increases in gas prices and commodities overall to democratic and more populous states. In this way maga\trumpists\republican states will see lower gas prices, whilst the rest of the country (primarily non-red aka blue states) shoulder most of the cost of alledged "cost-savings".
DJT is insider trading and playing the market to favor the less than half of voters that "elected" him and only\primarily in red states.
It should be illegal. But is it? One country (in he red).

@exchrist you mean like democrats have been doing to red states for the last 150+ years?

It's not insider trading, nor playing the market... it's turnabout...
