@trollslayer I wouldn't. In a state that is actively trying to erase LGBTQ from even being mentioned in schools I would not want a physical list that would identify my child as a possible member.

@trollslayer Further, in abusive households - school can be a respite. Having to get permission from a bigoted parent for a teacher to refer to you with a nickname erases that chance at respite.

@ViciDraco that’s basically my point. I would have no problem with it, and if there was a problem with it that is a huge red flag for an abusive household. If my child did not want to tell me, i would feel like a failure as a parent.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Not that it's not a good idea, it is but the parents are the ones who are the reason for getting the teacher fired. So I have a feeling that the student's parents are bigots, a permission slip wouldn't work
