Angry protesters from New York to Alaska assail Trump and Musk in ‘Hands Off!’ rallies.

Thousands of protesters in cities dotting the nation from Midtown Manhattan to Anchorage, Alaska, including at multiple state capitols, assailed Trump and billionaire Elon Musk ‘s actions on government downsizing, immigration and human rights.

Are these people nuts? The nation is in debt, government agencies are badly run and robbing American taxpayers. Should these protesters be rounded up by Homeland Security and thrown out of the country?

@sree251 you eliminate waste by carefully reviewing function and making decisions based on consideration of risk:benefit of eliminating a worker or department. The decisions are made hastily and even Musk says he is using a chainsaw not a scalpel. JFK has said they made a mistake by firing so many people.

I don't think peaceful protest is (yet) illegal in Trumpland. Violent protest is definitely not illegal, as we all know 🙃

There is a budget deficit. Government agencies are not "robbing" the taxpayer.

If government agencies are not robbing the taxpayer, how come there is a budget deficit? Taxpayers pay in to the public account. Government agencies take all the money out and put IOU's in the public account. Is this not robbery?

@sree251 How come there is a budget deficit? Because demand for government services outstrips supply, plain and simple. Why should this be the case? Because the private sector increasingly fails to supply the needs of the whole nation.

Thousands, LOL. Not in our state. A few but they do bus people in from California sometimes. These are all paid for their time, it's really just a part time job for them, so no one knows what they think or care.

Looks like maybe active and retired teachers and/or civil service? Not very many younger people, or Black people. Don't look like union workers. My money says teachers and civil service.

@sree251 Why progressive? Because it is the most efficient and fair way of administering taxes. There is no point in levying a flat rate that 25% of the population cannot afford to pay, but which is pocket money to the top 10% of earners.

There is no wealth? America has one individual citizen whose wealth is reportedly in excess of the GDP of most nation states (or at least it was until his best mate went apes**t last week).
