odd all the angry protestors offer no solutions to debt crisis, waste, and fraud

@1490wayb Many of them do, but the solutions (progressive taxation, re-distribution of wealth) are probably not ones that you are interested in listening to.

Progressive taxation? Why progressive? You pay what I pay. It's that simple. Why progressive? What monkey business are you up to?
Re-distribution of wealth? What the hell is that? There is no wealth. There are just taxes collected for paying expenses to keep public services running. What monkey business are you up to?

@sree251 Why progressive? Because it is the most efficient and fair way of administering taxes. There is no point in levying a flat rate that 25% of the population cannot afford to pay, but which is pocket money to the top 10% of earners.
There is no wealth? America has one individual citizen whose wealth is reportedly in excess of the GDP of most nation states (or at least it was until his best mate went apes**t last week).

Progressive is neither efficient nor fair. It's financial gerrymandering. When you go into a restaurant to eat, you pay what's stated on the menu regardless of whether you are rich or poor, white or black, straight or something else. The price is based on the meal eaten and not who the eater was. Don't we have a law against discrimination?
Wealth is in the eyes of the beholder who is jealous. You people just can't bear seeing someone with more money than you have.

@sree251 A restaurant is not the government of a modern nation state, so this is an inappropriate analogy. If it were, more than half the population would starve to to death.
Wealth is an objective reality. I can't bear seeing children in needless poverty and peoples' potential wasted just because a few selfish individuals feel they have no obligations beyond themselves.
