Makes me super happy that I don't drink alcohol!

@beermeplease It looks like perhaps Canada has had a larger tariff on European vodka than the US had. I recall being in Paris and couple times and the French wine was so cheap, it was unbelievable. California wine was super expensive.

@carpediem My beef with them was a long time ago. They were boycotting our grapes or California wines...or something. Danged if I can really remember now.
@carpediem our own booze is heavily taxed. it's disgusting. there were even interprovincial restrictions on certain products. like albertans could not get wine from bc...

Europe tariffs American goods and have for decades. Example.... Germany levies a 10% tariff on American made vehicles. America tariff's German vehicles at 2.5%. Trump's threat of a 200% tariff on EU alcohol sales only happens if the EU levies a 50% on US whisky.

The US has dealt with tariffs that have not been equal for quite some time. That is about to change.

@ArishMell Good information. Yes, the US needs steel and aluminum to be manufactured domestically. It won't be an easy road, but it needs to happen.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@carpediem The question then is whether the US has the reserves and capacity. For example, since refining aluminium from its ore ended some forty years ago, what happened to the smelting plant and rolling-mills? And their operators?

For another, practical problem I don't hear or see aired much, is that where industries dwindle or close the pool of skills needed to operate them will also dry up, so trying to reconstitute them will not be easy.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@ArishMell Agreed. It won't be easy. But it still needs to happen and will. New plants and mills will come about as the market conditions improve for domestic producers.

More alcohol for us i guess.

Maybe all that EU booze will start flowing here and get cheaper for us. Hey I won’t complain.

200% tariff on Meta and X should be the proper response

My tariff is bigger than your tariff.

@beermeplease I don't rate British food.

You can all tariff that for zero economic impact because nobody wants it. We would have to pay countries to import our food.
@Burnley123 well you do have some quality football we can watch 🤗...did i tell you my boys are 3-0 to start the season and also move on to round of 8 in champions cup. we eliminated top mexican team monterrey last night 😊

@beermeplease The Premiership is such a world league that the most overseas TV market is as big as the domestic one. The domestic market is also pretty big.

Well done for that. I know Monterey have had recent success in Liga MX and (like their rivals Tigres) have strong financial backing. I know that Mexican teams used to completely dominate CONCACAF but it's no longer the case. It's a sign that the MLS is improving.

My dad and I watched Burnley beat Luton 4-0 on Saturday and we are third (two go up plus playoff). Luton are in the Championship relegation zone and might be in line for a double relegation.
What about Bacardi and Malibu and peach schnapps ?
@deadinternet dont know about bacardi or malibu but peach scnapps expect to pay 200% more
@beermeplease This is outrageous
