$300 Billion Given to Ukraine?

$300 Billion GIVEN to Ukraine amounts to $1,000.00 for every man, woman and child in America, or $2,500.00 for every American federal taxpayer (not all Americans pay federal taxes).

After insulting America, Zelensky then went to London and signed a LOAN agreement for $3 Billion with the UK.

Of course, the only way that the UK can hope to get their money back is by ridding Ukraine of the Russian menace. And of course the UK will expect the US to bear the lion's share of the cost and effort. And if Ukraine does eventually wear Russia down the UK may get that $3 Billion back, and the US will get ... the middle finger.

It’s not like we sent them palates of money…that was spent right here in the US on the equipment we sent them, which keeps thousands employed and helps our economy. Just sayin’ 🤷‍♂

@Zaphod42

(rolling eyes) The excuse that the weapons are made in the US and the money spent here is a bit shallow. It's kind of like saying that bank robbery isn't so bad because the robbers will spend they money they take in the local community :)

There's a whole other side of this when considering opportunity cost. Like how much of our economy is now based on military weaponry for someone else? Like what else could all those skilled military industrial workers be doing? How about repairing our crumbling infrastructure? Or high speed rail? Maybe make US manufacturing competitive again?

Biden ripped us off, for sure. I remember when we weren't even ALLOWED to suggest that we didn't want to fund this war. The left wingers on the internet used to jump right down our throats for suggesting that we didn't WANT to pay for it.

Then there was the huge sympathy for the Ukrainian people campaign...basically propaganda preparing the public for paying through the nose.

@jshm2 So funny seeing Democrats now championing the military industrial complex :)

If I take the latest US Census figures for 2024, the current population is the US is 340.1 million. Now, I am not a math genius but if I divide $300 billion by 340.1 million, then I don't come to $1,000 for every man, woman and child. Unless of course, you remove all the legal immigrants...

Heartlander · 80-89, M
@StephieThanks. Last I checked, a billion is a thousand million. and a trillion is a thousand billion. I didn't factor in the illegals, and I confessed to estimating. Also made some adjustment for the debt stacked ahead of what was what was borrowed, and the accumulated interest. Sorry :)

FWIW, the US census counts everyone, not just US citizens, and there is no question in the census process of whether one is or isn’t a citizen. So the number of illegals in the US is uncertain. A good estimate is 20 to 30 million. So let me modify that $1,000 to say “about $1,000 for every man, woman and child who is a US citizen.”

Late here but he's running out of his own population to force to fight.
Isn't it kind of equivalent long term, because military equipment has a limited lifetime, of giving all the residents of Vatican City (764) a loaded handgun with one clip to advance and take out China? Just a thought.

@Stephie Well his health is declining however if he had to be involved perhaps the Holy Trinity would step in and replace the handguns with these.

@Gibbon What? no earmuffs? Yet another case of future tinnitus and the tax payer will have to jump in 🤨
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@Stephie He might have plugs. That's what I use. The problem with this is that it's so awesome even anti-gun people go "Holy crap I want one" Lol.

Unbelievable. I'm not surprised.

You think Trump fought in Vietnam?!?

No, but I did. I was an advisor and flight instructor to the VNAF and had a ring side seat to the US betrayal of both the Vietnamese people and the American people. All based on a lie. I have no issue with anyone who avoided military service then.
