We were talking about this at work today, the only saving grace is that they are moving so fast to flood the zone people might actually start to feel the consequences while he’s still in office.
It could still go the wrong way long term but it might also be them shooting themselves in the foot

@Theyitis Yea that’s the outcome I’m predicting. We’ll fall into a cycle of cruel optimism where water we’re doing isn’t working, but that just means we need to do it harder
And then the whole thing will fall apart faster. I don’t think there’s a good ending to this.

@PalteseMalconFunch It's the story of the death-spiral within neoliberalism and the far right. Sigh.

@Burnley123 Exactly.

You should write that essay. We could use the laughs.

This is the collapse of the Soviet Union: western edition.
It isn't a move to strengthen the private sector or maximize profits (when they're literally sanctioning themselves with tariffs lol), the final purpose is to collapse the system as a whole so that the oligarchy may reign with unlimited power on the ashes, exactly like Putin and his henchmen did.

When the public sector is rendered completely impotent, the people will have no choice but to turn to the private sector for their needs. And the private sector won't have anyone that can tell them 'no'.

@DavidT8899 On paper it sounds nice, but are you really willing to trust a politician at face value?
When you start digging into the things this administration is labeling fraud and waste, very little of it actually turns out to be anything close to corruption. I mean, how can one say that they are properly auditing the government when none of the people on DOGE's staff have any known auditing or accounting experience?

@TinyViolins Give them time.See what they come up with.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@DavidT8899 That would be nice if they hadn't already started firing government inspectors and laying off employees of these agencies

DOGE is modeled after the successful gutting of Twitter. The same genius who paid $44 Billion for Twitter 2 years ago, only to take its value to less than $8 Billion today, kept alive using Tesla stock, is in charge.
What could go wrong?

Why don't you write the essay?

So you seem happy with political corruption and wasting our tax money

@Burnley123 Isn't it just awesome! 😎 Who needs a pension anyway. People need to work.

They're just upscaling the same trick the Republicans did with the US Post Office when they fucked that all up
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Gee whiz Burnsie. You know that reduced the over bloated socialist enablers only hurts the feelings of commies like you when in reality in a federal republic the job of the government is to protect the homeland, keep the streets clean and prevent and punish crime. This doesn’t include sending out money to pay for YOUR socialist programs.
@Burnley123 Awesome! No one should depend on the government for insurance.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
You think they let him drive? @Musicman
@jackjjackson Definitely not!
