So what is your policy on potholes?

Nice, short, observation from an informed commentator I admire.

Populists are very good at broadcasting what they are against, and who is to blame for shortcomings in the current system. They grab attention with wild, often unsubstantiated theories, and make impossible promises. When they are unable to fulfil these, they deflect attention from themselves by heaping further blame on their chosen scapegoats.

They are less good at coming up with practical solutions to mundane problems such as road maintenance that affect us all.

Basically, if you don't have a policy on filling potholes, you shouldn't be running for political office 🙂

If we had witches in real life they could use magic to fill in potholes! 😌😌😌
Convivial · 26-30, F
@MommyLucy I'll vote for that
@Convivial We need Sabrina and Samantha.

@Convivial same here

I would nationalise the potholes and make them an anarcho-syndicalist commune.

@MarthannBann888 But both sides (and I say this as a left wing person) has done bad things and there are lots of good people on both sides (and I say that despite not being a fan of Conservatism at all) who care about people! 😇😇😇 Best not to judge! 😘😘😘 Please understand SunshineGirl is one of the nicest people ever and she is not like that at all and neither am I, promise! 💖💖💖

@MommyLucy

Thank you for your good opinion of sunshine, you are beginning to convince me on her behalf. She is lucky to have you as a friend.
Your “there are good people on both sides” opinion has been thoroughly excoriated in the news and by the left. Never mentioning Trump's exclusion of white supremests in his answer to the reporter during the press conference that day. Trump was very forceful in excluding all those of nefarious purpose. This exclusion has been a closely concealed fact for the past seven or eight years. As the left falsely branded an innocent Trump of racial prejudice.
I certainly agree with judging others as I have been judged and canceled by liberals over the past few years. I wish you had been there to caution your friends.
Regardless of all else, though, the plight of girls in England is truly horrific. That they are being cruelly abused by Muslims has been well established by eye witness reports to the police, courts, and media despite threats of death in some cases. Many girls have had to stop their education in fear of retribution. In light of such suffering. To make snide comments about sniping at migrants in light of their heavy participation in these crimes requires mental gymnastics I am not capable of. I hope sunshine can rethink her feelings.

@MarthannBann888 This post has nothing to do with Trump or America, why do you insist on deflecting?

Clearly I have not "canceled" you either as I am still trying to engage you in constructive debate.

You are repeating verbatim a version of events that has been deliberately distorted for political.purposes. While it may contain elements of truth, social media is not an appropriate platform on which to speculate about extremely sensitive subjects.

If you are interested in learning about Elon Musk's reckless disregard for the truth, I would recommend following the current court case into last year's murders in Southport. These are now shown to have nothing to do with immigration, Islam, or peadophile rings, all of which were falsely claimed on X in a successful bid to stir up racial tension and violence which ruined many peoples' lives.

@SunshineGirl

I believe I was referencing your exact words “there are good people on each side”. That is a very triggering phrase in this country. Much evil and many lies have been told due to that phrase. It is also very famous.
I don’t think that I am “deflecting” at all. And, maybe you might try for a little more clarity in your own commentary.
Whoever did or did not commit murders in your country is surely not related to either the grooming and rape of little girls by migrants to your country, the government’s blind eye to the children’s suffering, or potholes.
I certainly believe that potholes and their repair are a worthy subject. It seems your government is making no improvements in either situation. Grooming and rape being perhaps the most serious in terms of human suffering and criminal behavior in your country.
Your mention that your country is in need of migrants to fix potholes is surely puzzling. I, for one, think British men are more than capable of fixing potholes. Looking at the conditions in the countries from where the needed migrants come from, I am not sure they would know about potholes in paved roads. While I do see paved roads in Middle Eastern countries, they do not seem to be as ubiquitous as in Great Britain.
My information does not come from “social media”. Unless you actually know something about me, assuming that I get my information from social media is insulting. Certainly, if I were you I would get my information from anywhere else than where it now comes from. A man named Paul Fregosi wrote a book called Jiaud”. It is a deep understanding of the Muslim mindset and its opinion of females. I would also caution you against unfounded criticisms of others. While I understand that you have not canceled me, I am well aware that you fully support the liberal movement, their indifference to canceling people, and the lies they tell. I am also aware that the liberal movement in your country has demonstrated little or no caring for the suffering of its children.

Good observation, Sunshine! Too bad we didn’t have Newsom on the ticket this year! He has made such a difference in fire prevention in his state, it’s too bad we didn’t get him on the federal level. After all, filling a water hydrant is surely a snap to potholes.
Of course, accomplishments are scorned when produced by the right, so you will not know about them or will deny them. When local and state officials cut funding and personnel to the LAFD it was touted as great. The homeless needed a home to run away from and by crackedy they got it.
Royrogers · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl I agree. The channeo”llor has trashed the UK economy and is hoping that the china deal will support it.
Royrogers · 61-69, M
As for the pot holes perhaps if the local economy had not been crippled by the canncellor they might help
Royrogers · 61-69, M
Trouble is that the cabinet are living in la la land and denial that the economy problems have anything to do with them
Convivial · 26-30, F
As one of my friends is fond of saying, either fix it or stop complaining
Lugwho · 56-60, M
They're a bit of a nuisance but I can't help thinking they should be easy to avoid in most cases. Just drive slower or go around them.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirlI am playing devils advocate a bit here, but in general I don't agree. Cyclists don't break up the surface, but they should be prepared to pay something towards whatever route they use. There are plenty of cycle paths that cars don't use, who should pay for these.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Lugwho I heartily disagree. Most roads follow the path of ancient rights of way which were maintained at minimal cost until motorised transport came along. Now some are practically unusable by anyone but motorists. Pedestrians and two wheelers need compensating 🚶🏼‍♀‍➡🚴🏼‍♀
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl That's just not true. The route might be the same but they are built and maintained for cars. There was no need for a tarmac surface for horses or pedestrians, and potholes wouldn't be an issue.
calicuz · 56-60, M
Yes, take into consideration the presidential election we just had. Neither candidate pushed infrastructure or our homeless problem.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
My policy is, if you're riding my bumper on the expressway and i see a big one, Ima wait till the last second to switch lanes!!
calicuz · 56-60, M
@GerOttman

I'm going to remember this one. 😂

@HobNoblin An unorthodox solution, but I appreciate your attention to detail.
