What do you think the chances are that for the 2024 election,

the electoral college gives their votes to Harris instead of Trump even if Trump gets the majority vote?

Well,if that does happen, the same people who accused Trump of attempting to "subvert democracy"will be cheering on Harris for her "courage and conviction."
@DavidT8899 none of us said anything about cheering on anyone going rogue, regardless of what party they belong to.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@NerdyPotato You implied it.And we both know you would.
@DavidT8899 when did I imply it? I literally said the opposite.

@SlaveEt Humanity will be around to read about what we do. History is not for us...............it is for others who follow us to learn from. Right now we are the history that the next generation will read about. What we do to hurt the planet...society...the environment....politics...sports.....science. Everything happening today that makes news is history for whomever reads it later. Hiding those actions now with lies of "oh that never happened" and "oh he didn't say that or do that"..............when records exist to the contrary don't change history. It makes it by showing later generations that lies replaced truth.........so easily...........and so few seemed to care. Mostly.....................by apathy of "who cares? That's what i say."

The system is clearly defined. Whoever wins the most electoral college votes wins.

@LeopoldBloom Thank I honestly didn't know that. I've never dug into it's creation. Just my opinion. The electorate for each state should be divided into zones especially since the numbers for each state is obviously decided by each states population. Inturn for each state this is how they should be awarded and non of this winner takes all BS. To me that would be fair electorate representation.
@Gibbon We might as well just have a national popular vote. The Electoral College was devised in an era without mass media, when there was no way for the populace to learn anything about the candidates. But they did have a chance to know who their state legislator was.

Also, while electors can (and occasionally do) vote for someone other than their pledged candidate, several states have "faithless elector" laws where they can be fined or jailed for doing so. This doesn't happen often because electors are chosen for their party loyalty.

we have had a number of electoral college mishaps
it is not a good system.
so there is movement in some state legislators to give the electoral votes to whoever one the popular vote

Biden leaving the race is a massive blow to Trump. It’d be easy to vote against Biden because of his dementia. The void of Biden leaving the race will make it much easier for Republicans to cross over and vote Democrat.

If I had to guess, I’d bet Harris wins the popular vote and the electoral.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@SW-User No,mine is utterly correct but I won't argue the point with you.And it's not a guarantee that Harris will win anymore than it is for Trump .The election is up in the air and will be decided by many factors.

@DavidT8899 We can both agree on the last sentence, I think. She will smoke him in the popular vote, but she has to win several of the battleground states.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@SW-User Well,as they say, well just have to see what happens.
Republicans would then start screaming for an end to the electoral college.
Northwest · M
The only way this would happen. Is if Harris takes Idaho, Montana and the Dakotas.

Fat chance. Trump’s focus for the past 3 elections has been on the electoral vote. Only way he can win.
@Northwest
Only way he can win.
You mean legally? According to the Constitution and the LAW?? Imagine that. 😂

Trump has lost the popular vote in every election he's ever been in. And those 2 elections was BEFORE he was found guilty of rape............massive business fraud......34 felonies........and 3 more federal trials to go. The cult still loves him but the cult has never exceeded 37% of the public vote..
BohoBabe · M
0%. Conservatives go along with Fascists, while Liberals do nothing to fight Fascism that goes against precedent. The electoral college should refuse to make Trump president again no matter how many votes he gets, but that won't happen.
@BohoBabe Electors tend to be party loyalists.

@LeopoldBloom Unfortunately.

Trump wouldn't get the popular vote, he never has.

Trump has never gotten the majority vote. The best hope for the Republicans is him flipping battleground states. Even then he’s facing an uphill climb.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Biden/Harris would have won because off the growing negative reaction to Insurrectionist-Cry-Baby-trump, but with Harris/Walz they will attract those with that negative reaction plus they will win over "real-"Republicans who didn't see Biden as viable.
I’m sure the ppl at the electoral colleges. Buy groceries, put fuel in their car.. can’t afford a house. Prolly been robbed raped or murdered by an illegal. Or knows someone who has…

🍿
I won’t ever say never. In fact I kind of expect it!
