Supreme Court stopped Colorado from disqualifying Trump's presidential run.

This is a major blow to Trump haters throughout the nation.
The SCOTUS effectively stopped the state of Colorado from denying its citizens the right to express their political preference for a presidential candidate.
That if allowed would be true voter suppression and it would have crossed all religious, political, and gender lines.

@ElwoodBlues You said: "... citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

Yes, I see that quote in the text of the 14th Amendment. This is why we have apellate and supreme courts to deliberate on the meaning of the law which is an ass.

The bottom line is this: Trump can run for President, and the folks with the Colorado decision can stuff it.

Yes, someone else did respond but I still say you guys have to stuff it. SCOTUS has spoken.

As an avid US watcher from Australia I am gobsmacked at what is happening over there in the Land of the Free! My own country has a similar infection of the woke left but the symptoms are no where near severe. My heart goes out to all decent hard working Americans.
@TwistedApe I think it's really revealing to see how conservatives define 'Woke' when they're under oath:

@LordShadowfire where do you get those kind of memes?
@specman http://yourlogicalfallacyis.com
This gives them cover for ruling against Trump in the immunity case.

@windinhishair Are you biased also?

The decision was expected. What wasn't expected was that they would extend the decision to ALL federal offices, in direct contravention of the intent of the 14th Amendment. With this decision, Colorado would not be able to remove an insurrectionist Senator from Colorado, who represents Colorado, and was elected by Colorado citizens only. Clearly those who drafted and voted for the amendment didn't intend for that to be the case given the wording of the Amendment.

@sree251 When did the Court go to a Nine Chief Justice mode? Did they want to have no one in charge?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@windinhishair SCOTUS. I meant nine members: one Chief justice and 8 associate justices.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@sree251 That isn't what you said, but you have it correct now.

In this case the Supreme Court ruled justly.

It's only a major blow to those who thought the Court would rule against Trump

This was not an unexpected decision. I predicted this type of decision a month ago.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
It’s a major blow to the Court which had little credibility left, and now has none. It is an illegitimate institution.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@sladejr Yeah, all’s good, thanks. ✌🏻
specman · 51-55, M
@Bumbles seriously?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Bumbles Why is it illegitimate?

Yeah, So much for 'States Rights', eh?
@sree251 And the Republicans will be able to do the same thing to Biden. It's not like your side is holy. Half of the Republicans in Congress are theocratic psychopaths, and the other half are craven lickspittles.

Engoron and James aren't in Congress. And just because the ruling went against your orange lord and savior doesn't mean it's corrupt. Trump got exactly what he deserved. He's lucky James didn't make this a criminal matter.

What ruling? Engoron and James are not public officials. They are a couple of people who have acquired the power to inflict harm. They are no different from bad actors who have legally acquired firearms and used them to shoot people they don't like.

There's nothing in the constitution that keeps candidates from being on the ballot. Should Trump actually win the election is when we'll see the court cases to attempt to prevent him from taking office.
@Bumbles That's okay. Neither does @sree251.

Not really; more of a sign of Trump's insecurity. Biden was not on the NH primary ballot and he won anyway with 63.9% of the vote. His nearest competitor only got 19.6%. If Trump were confident of his support he would welcome the chance to win like Biden did.

I think you mean people who respect the Constitution.
@sree251
It depends on who this country belongs to...
No, it does not. Donald Trump tried to overturn a legitimate election. That makes him a traitor to the country.
