This is a major blow to Trump haters throughout the nation.

@WalksWith States Rights only apply for Republican States on issues they want. They don't apply at all in blue states.

@WalksWith States have no rights. They only have territorial significance within the USA.

Cry Harder! 9-0 😭😭😭😭😭
@sree251 DEAD WRONG!!!

States have the right to have different laws, subject to the Supremacy Clause. The Constitution chiefly limits the power of the Federal government. AND.

"It makes clear that any powers that are not specifically given to the federal government, nor withheld from the states, are reserved to those respective states, or to the people at large."

States have citizens; states have powers; states can have differing laws. Deal with it.

@ElwoodBlues You said: "States have citizens; states have powers; states can have differing laws. Deal with it."

Deal with what? I have no vested interest in how it all shakes out.

The bottom line is this: the Constitution reigns supreme, in accordance with the interpretation of the Third Branch of the US Government; namely, SCOTUS.
@sree251 You said "States have no rights. They only have territorial significance within the USA." That's false. Deal with it.

@ElwoodBlues Wherever I go in the world, I am identified as a US citizen. Do you know how silly you would look if you say you are an Oklahoman or a Wisconsinian?
@sree251 Changing the subject, I see; is that your way of conceding defeat?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues I am not changing the subject at all. I am pointing out that states are non-entities.

@WalksWith The States don't have the right to determine who is allowed to run for Federal office. It's a no brainer.
@SumKindaMunster I agree with that part of the decision. Allowing states to disqualify candidates would lead to chaos. The problem is how they worded what Congress can do. The experts I'm reading now are saying that Congress can disqualify an elected president on the grounds of "insurrection" after he's elected or even in the middle of his term.
@sree251 States can pass laws within the constitutional limits. Elwood's example is why we need a federal law guaranteeing the right to abortion, so the states can't restrict women's rights in that area.

And correct, you're not an Oklahoman or a Wisconsonian, but you are subject to the laws of those states while you are in them. For example, the only way you can be charged with murder under federal law is if you kill someone during the commission of another crime. Under state law, you can be charged with murder by itself with no other crime associated with it.

Congress can do anything to Trump if it is stacked with politicians like Judge Engoron and Letitia James. The US Government has become a cesspool of low lifers who are no better than half the folks in this forum.
@sree251 And the Republicans will be able to do the same thing to Biden. It's not like your side is holy. Half of the Republicans in Congress are theocratic psychopaths, and the other half are craven lickspittles.

Engoron and James aren't in Congress. And just because the ruling went against your orange lord and savior doesn't mean it's corrupt. Trump got exactly what he deserved. He's lucky James didn't make this a criminal matter.

What ruling? Engoron and James are not public officials. They are a couple of people who have acquired the power to inflict harm. They are no different from bad actors who have legally acquired firearms and used them to shoot people they don't like.
