What does Center Right look like in the USA today

And does it exist?

It's a good question. Given how it's been weaponized with social issues that stand outside of what "law and order" and "freedom" are supposed to mean, I think those in that lane are more interested in the financial ramifications that typically come to the wealthiest under GOP leadership.

Doesn’t exist for the most part. At least among Federal GOP elected officials.

Here, "center right" are now called "RINO's" because they aren't radical enough, Christian enough and White enough for the far right loonies the GOP has been recruiting in the last 10-20 years so yes, it still exists even if a couple of decades ago what was considered center right then was pretty far right.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
We don't have center right any more. We have far right and extreme far right.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@trollslayer Yes. I have made that point myself on here. Reagan would not have had a political career today as he would have been primaried by far right-wing politicians.
Strictgram · 70-79, C
@windinhishair And we have left and far left. That divide can't be resolved.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Strictgram Democrats can govern with their center-left and left. Republicans cannot govern. Period. Just look at the House and Republicans like Tuberville in the Senate.

It does if you accept that like the metric system, stuff has a completely different meaning in America. There the centre right burns books, makes sure public education is crap (in case the poor get uppity) and doesnt want migrants around except for when they work cheap.
The Far right actually believes god will fix everything personally and Jesus is a nice white boy with an L.A. tan who has them on speed dial..😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@spjennifer And if the polls prove out he will be the Republican Nominee.. God help the Republicans and America😷
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@whowasthatmaskedman Hey, if he's their choice, so be it, let them bear the consequences of that and I really hope that we won't have to...
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@spjennifer Of course you are correct and they will. And knowing what they know about him already then will have no excuse for the 💩 that will rain down on them.. Facts are that America is in for a bad time for the next decade anyway and Americans dont seem to get "consequences". But this isnt about them. Its also a fact that the world is atill linked to America in too many places to just let us walk away unscathed. So when America sneezes, we will all feel it. Not as bad as the GFC. But still, everyone is a little concerned as it is..😷

It looks about as spineless as it sounds. It consists of career Republicans who opportunistically kowtow to far-right pressure and then find their political futures at stake as a result.
anyone even slightly right to chairman mao...... is a far right extremist nazi
DiStefano · 46-50, M
It has been hijacked and moved more to the right. They are still there, but have no leader who could enthuse their supporters and and make many new members join. Nowadays leaders from the Center Right seem too bureaucratic and faceless or like businessmen or pale politicians.
Lol, yes, it exists. It just means that you think "pregnant men" is a stupid concept, but are ok with gays doing whatever they want. A far right american thinks "pregnant men" is a stupid concept and also wants gays dead.

It looks like the party that doesn't want an election denier and a jan6 insurrectionist as our SOTH.
What we call center right today used to be called right wing extremism.
Strictgram · 70-79, C
@LordShadowfire Name someone who wants to take away SS from the deserving.
@Strictgram Quite literally any Republican politician. You people keep trying to cut social security, claiming that it's increasing the national debt. That's bullshit, because social security is funded by a completely separate fund, and it enjoys a surplus every year.

Now, what about the last two talking points you brought up?
Strictgram · 70-79, C
@LordShadowfire False on both counts.
