Get ready folks, another Biden failure coming our way.

"The Biden administration has cleared the way for the release of five American citizens detained in Iran by issuing a blanket waiver for international banks to transfer $6 billion in frozen Iranian money from South Korea to Qatar without fear of U.S. sanctions. In addition, as part of the deal, the administration has agreed to release five Iranian citizens held in the United States."

US moves to advance prisoner swap deal with Iran and release $6 billion in frozen Iranian funds.

Okay, a prisoner swap might be in the best interest for both countries however, American prisoners were most likely held simply because they are Americans, while any Iranian prisoners we have are most likely terrorists in some way.

When Iran held hostages during the Carter presidency, all types of negotiations were tried to no avail. It was only when Ronald Reagan was president that he told Iran, release the American hostages or suffer the military consequences. Those American hostages were very soon released.

And of course by releasing billions of dollars to Iran will only increase their nuclear capabilities, which they have recently been working very hard to build up and use against us. It would have been better, (if at all possible,) to negotiate a prisoner for prisoner swap without releasing the frozen billions of dollars.

This is just another bad Biden deal that will lead, in one way or another, to another Biden administration failure. Kind of ironic that this deal with Iran comes out in the news on 9/11. A deal with the people responsible for causing the 9/11 attacks in the first place. How sad.

I still don't see how anyone can think and/or feel that Biden is not destroying our country.

For a bank transfer? It's not even US money.

What do you care? Secretary of State Antony Blinken determined that waiving the sanctions was in the national security interests of the United States. I'm gonna go with him over the uninformed "patriot." We're talking about five lives here, 10 in totals if you're counting both sides. Humans for whom this exchange can't be threatened. But might is right, yeah? Blow em all to hell and let the devil sort them out? Evolved humans actually use critical thought to analyze, anticipate, strategize and act in a humane manner to reach decisions of great import. Some consider the greater good or give human life more weight than cash or pride. It's Iran's money. It belongs to Iran and, by the way, may only be used for humanitarian trade and will be kept in restricted accounts in Qatar.

Or just call it payback for the $8 billion they lost under hastily crafted provisions by the US during the hostage crisis.

And I encourage you to read this. It's supporting evidence for this hypothesis.

More proof for our enemies of what a weak, pathetic traitor we have in our White House.

Only because the last guy in charge of the White House, decided to step out of the deal that allowed independent observers to inspect nuclear installations. Not furthering the creation of isotopes for a nuclear arsenal was part of the deal. And in the mean time Iran (just like any other country) could still use nuclear power. But instead, the last guy in office, went back too economic sanctions. Something that didn't work before when it comes to the nuclear program. But doubling down on stuff that doesn't work is often the conservative way of doing things.

Some of the big countries, including the USA, have been extremely untrustworthy to international arangements. In responds dictators afraid of being the target of regime change, had a reason to increase their nuclear arms program as a deterrent.

This part makes no sense. Maybe it's time to look up the diffrence between Sunnis and Shiites. Spoiler: they don't like eachother. Al Qaeda was Sunni, Sadam was a Sunni, Bin Laden was Sunni, ... but I guess when you are totally ignorant to all of this: muslims are muslism, and thus all muslims aided with 9.11.

I think dumbassery is destroying the USA. Perceiving the US from that angle, makes this post really ironic imo.

I see you've been captured by the right-wing media machine. This happened about six weeks ago but has only been converted to the tragedy du jour by Fox News now.

So you believe Bush was President right after Carter? Interesting. It was Reagan who committed treason by negotiating with the Iranians during the election, and got them to hold off releasing the hostages until he took office in January. Not only did Bush not get the hostages released, Reagan PROLONGED their captivity for personal political gain.

Iran was abiding by a nuclear deal and not increasing their capabilities--until Trump unilaterally reneged on the deal, to the horror of our allies. The current advances are due to his malfeasance.

You need a remedial history class. You obviously have not paid attention.

My original post stated that it was Bush who was potus when the hostages were released. I have since corrected my error,m as it was Ronald Reagan who was potus .
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@IM5688 You should also correct the post to reflect that Reagan negotiated illegally with Iran as the Republican nominee and then as President-Elect to hold the hostages until Carter was out of office.

Life would be a lot simpler if you bloody Americans would all just stay home...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman That's the truth. We must seem like a team bus after a win; just loud, adrenaline-infused and arrogant.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Graylight I know its not the reality. But it is the image Americans project. "Team America!"😷

@whowasthatmaskedman this American stays home all the time

Iran didn’t cause 9.11. Perhaps you’re thinking of Iran’s enemy, Saudi Arabia.
sounds like another trumpo indictment for distraction is on the way....
ron122 · 41-45, M
I wouldn't expect anything less from that idiot.
bookerdana · M
I believe they released the prisoners as Reagan was being sworn in ..he had had secret negotiations, afraid of an October surprise
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Bumbles Interesting you should support commies, at least you are consistent
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@sunsporter1649 Not that it matters, but I disagree with Biden’s decision. Not sure who the commie is in this scenario?
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@bookerdana I stand corrected. It was Reagan and not Bush.
Stuffy · 61-69, F
Would you mind explaining to an ignorant person about these frozen funds?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Stuffy Northwest had a post on this about 13 hours ago in the Politics section. You may want to check it out.

Open season on Americans
You mean when before Reagan took office, after offering weapons to the Iranians after their release if he got elected.
