Consummate professionals or 7-year-old kids?

Government says: We want to save you money and help calm the earth. The DOE finalized regulations prohibiting certain light bulbs over their low energy efficiency levels. According to the DOE announcement, the regulations are projected to save consumers an estimated $3 billion per year on utility bills and cut carbon emissions by 222 million metric tons over the next three decades.

GOP says: Can't tell us what to do.

What's interesting is the push to end incandescent bulbs started under Bush. Most have been banned in California for a while. CFL ban takes affect next year. This is just smart.

But I ran across a great Trump line about this. He's the guy who rolled back an Obama expansion of regulations around bulbs and here's what he said about the far more environmentally friendly and efficient LED bulbs.

Trump once famously complained about the quality of the light coming from LED bulbs, telling House Republicans “I always look orange” in the energy-efficient lighting.

Yeah. It's the lighting Cheeto.

But they can tell us................what books NOT to read. What subjects can't be talked about. What history can't be taught in schools. What you can't decide on your own for your own vagina. Who can vote and where...and how. The list is a mile long..............but don't take "our" rights way by telling us to save money. :-) DUH!!! ;-)

Well I like LED for the office as they are brighter. But at home incandescent are def more calming and “softer” light. I have several co- workers that get migraines from led lights at work. We had to buy additional filters that block out the blue light from the led. So it’s not for everybody. I do think ppl should have a choice. Just my opinion but it’s like because some ppl use too much salt in their diet and get heart issues, the govt outlawing salt. One size is not an answer for everything.

@Rickinnc You can buy full spectrum LED lights which are similar to sunlight. I use them all winter when I bring my plants in for the winter. I have several in my office right now.

First they came for our stoves.

Now they’re coming for our incandescent light bulbs.

Eventually they’ll get to those guns, right?

@AbbySvenz 🙄 - unless you're joshing us 😎

It’s sure taking them a while 😩@tindrummer

@AbbySvenz You're right. They sell the slippery slope because it's wrapped around fear.

I imagine the dinosaurs had a similar line of reasoning
What they don't tell you is, if you use less energy, utility companies won't make as much profit, so they will have to increase rates to make up for the loss.
Rickinnc · 56-60, M
So what kind of bulbs are we talking about not using anymore?
VisionQuest · 51-55, M
@Rickinnc Incandescent bulbs.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Rickinnc Incandescent bulbs which, while they work, are an older, less efficient model of lightbulbs. Incidentally, the reason Trump has launched a personal campaign against the newer bulbs (and then other technologies) was personal. In 2019 He remarked that the newer LED bulbs are often more expensive, not good and make him "look orange."
