Just to stir things up a tad ...

A political gap in excess COVID deaths widened after vaccines arrived : NPR

"The pandemic inflicted higher rates of excess deaths on both Republicans and Democrats. But after COVID-19 vaccines arrived, Republican voters in Florida and Ohio died at a higher rate than their counterparts, according to a new study.

Researchers from Yale University who studied the pandemic's effects on those two states say that from the pandemic's start in March 2020 through December 2021, "excess mortality was significantly higher for Republican voters than Democratic voters after COVID-19 vaccines were available to all adults, but not before."

Pro-Trump counties continue to suffer far higher COVID death tolls
More specifically, the researchers say, their adjusted analysis found that "the excess death rate among Republican voters was 43% higher than the excess death rate among Democratic voters" after vaccine eligibility was opened."

This is a good example of natural selection in action.

@windinhishair OK. We can think those things. But its still not nice to say them..A life is still a life. Blame DeSantis for selling the myth and killing his own supporters. Its not justice. But its all you are going to get..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I'm not happy to see people die due to their own stupidity. In fact, I find it profoundly sad. But unfortunately, actions have consequences, and the covid virus doesn't care if it selectively infects Republicans because they are the ones who have a lower level of vaccination.

@windinhishair I do get it. I have also seen the videos of Covid deniers in hospital, begging for the vaccine, too late..But it does show that people can learn..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman War is famous for foxhole conversions. ;-) I'm not sure that is learning. lol

@windinhishair Yep. I have been guilty myself. As an atheist sending up a prayer for desperately premmie grandchildren. You clutch at any straw. (They are precocious pre-teens now)😷

@whowasthatmaskedman That makes me happy. My grandson was a preemie and had heart surgery at 9 pounds--the smallest person to have his particular surgery on record. He's five and doing fine. I get it.

@windinhishair My grand daughters were born at 25 weeks and did three months in NICU repeatedly getting setbacks and rallying. Today they are first quartile all the way.. (and on another pet subject, the hospital bill was zero..)😷

@whowasthatmaskedman All children (and adults) should have access to life-saving health care. Civilized societies make it a priority. Unfortunately, the US had a long journey ahead to reach that point.

@whowasthatmaskedman That had to be a rough hall for your granddaughters, their parents, and you. Fortunately it worked out well.

@whowasthatmaskedman i hope they are doing well. You are lucky to have good medical care coverage!
