... so are deportations on the table now?

For my daily dose of demagoguery, I decided to listen to Donald Trumps' speech that he gave on the 25th of june 2023. I have to say, I've listened to a lot of his speeches... but this was one of the darkest ones yet. Now, everyone knows the things that he hates and the stereotypes that he uses to make the crowd foam out of their mouths. But this time he went exceptionally hard on immigrants... and "Marxists". I guess he finally dares to say what always follows if you are living with a notion of objective "evil" as your neighbour. There is always a final sollution to this kind of issue.
You and I have been fighting side-by-side to rescue our country from evil and senator forces that hate -- and cynical forces that hate it. As we gather today our beloved nation is teetering on the edge of tyranny. I believe that. You believe that. Our enemy are waging war on science and religion, on history and tradition, on law and democracy, on god almighty himself. They are waging war. […] The radicals are setting fire to our constitution, abolishing free speech, attacking religious beliefs, erasing our borders, corrupting our elections, and we have corrupt elections. and trying to oppose their creed of "woke" communism on every American, woman and child and that is what they are doing. We have never had a situation like is going on right now in our country […] Together we are warriors and a righteous crusade to stop the arsonists, the atheist globalist and the marxists and that is what they are. and we will restore a republic as one nation, under god God with liberty and justice for all.[…]

[...]Today I'm announcing a new plan to protect the integrity of our immigration system. Federal law prohibits the entry of communists and totalitarians into the united states. [applause] My question is what do we do with the ones that are already here? [laughter] I think we have to pass a new law for them. Using federal law, section 212f of the immigration and nationality act, I will order my government to deny entry to all communists, and all marxists. [applause] Those who come to join our country must love our country. We wouldn't want them when they want to destroy our country. Welcome to America, we want to destroy your country, thank you very much. We will keep foreign, christian-hating communist and marxists out of america.

We must be strong like never before. We must be unstoppable. Together we will take on the communists and the marxists, and the fascists and the globalists and the fake news media.
And when he’s summing up all the big plans he has for his new term:
[…] Because the time is coming up, we will have to extend that to expand the adoption tax credit. We will do that because a lot of people have been adopting and that's a great thing. Another to your already will be to expel the communists, and these terrible people that have taken over our education system.
... Anyway, if you are intrested in this kind of stuff. You should really take the time to listen to this speech.

If anyone still believes that this man upholds the constitution? Like, you don't have to go to another amendment then the 1st, then to figure out that he and his followers give one f*ck abouth that piece of paper.

And when you are this far to the extreme on the political spectrum, then the word "marxist" becomes just as meaningless as the word "fascist". It's just becomes a collective term, for everything these people don't like.

One assumes he will eventually suggest his enemies be placed in a sort of concentrated encampment...

@CorvusBlackthorne Well, "exile" is cheaper. In the same speech he also touches on the fact that he's proud to have taken away citizenship from other criminals. The sollutions are all in there.

@sunsporter1649 Sporter, you have put 2 posts on here, and have contributed nothing. You are on a roll today.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Kwek00 And that from someone who claims to come from a country which has among the toughest immigration laws in the free world. Amusing
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sunsporter1649 The laws that we have here, wouldn't suffice for your vision Sporter. Our last governement was pretty bad at immigration though, it was borderline criminal. But even those people would consider you repulsive.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@CorvusBlackthorne That's your best one yet.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@CorvusBlackthorne We are already in a concentration encampment.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sree251 Glad to see you have internet out there, and can still speak your mind and stuff 😅
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 Speak my mind and stuff? Are you sure about that? I have been supporting our military and our warfighting Presidents since I was a kid. Now, when I see chopped up men moving across the floor with their arms like apes in ads on Disabled American Veterans, am torn between heartbreak for those guys and fury for our government. So, my mind is all screwed up. What is your mind telling you? Are you donating $19 a month?

@sree251 When you are this emotional about a toppic, maybe it's time to back off a bit till you get a clearer assement of the situation.

@sree251 What are you talking about... The American national public debt has been growing for years. Espescially since the late 70s. I'm not an expert on the national debt, so if you want to have a good answer you should talk to someone that does studies in that field. My intuition however (and this can be pure bias), is that the national debt started to explode when the activities of the state were not being funded anymore. There are 2 big things driving this, expenses and income. And if you then look at the behavior, goals and emotions of the electorate AND the politicians... then you might have a framework that explains this.

Politicians like too spend money. Because they often get rewarded for accomplishments that can be visualised. Like building a bridge... or a wall. The electorate also asks things from their politicians, and solving issues ussually costs money. You can say: "hey, our administration did this.". While saving money, altough healthy, isn't something that the electorate ussually cares about. It's just not as rewarding. So politicians have an insentive to spend because the electorate asks them too. And if you also have an electorate that doesn't understand that these projects need to be funded, and believe that taxes are some "evil" thing... well, then the politician also has an incentive to cut taxes during his/her legeslation. So spending money and cutting taxes, helps build popularity but is also a recipe to grow your national debt. A lot of your presidents did it, so that they can get in favor with the public.

Now... there are moments, where this recipe of spending and cutting is nescessary. Espescially during a deep financial crisis, so that it can revitalise the supply and demand size in a periode where no one dares to take risk and employees are loosing their income. However, once this has become the method, it's really hard for the next guy to stop the process without becoming less popular. During an economic boom, taxes should be raised and money should be saved too face the collapse to come. Because capitalist free markets have cycles of boom and bust... but the electorate seems to be really bad at understanding that.

... Imo, most of the anger in the US, has more to do with: a dissapearing of the middle class (which is also a result from lowering taxes and cutting social programs), the growth of inequality and the inbalance in power and influence of the rich and the poor group in society, the striving of historically marginalised groups towards their equality which intrudes on previous hyrarchies who as a group show little understanding for this process, the level of eduation that gives insight into what America is and how it works, the denial of aspects and consquences of it's own history and the mixing of religion and politics by evangelical fundamentalists. Those are the bigger issues, even bigger then the national debt.

@Kwek00 Thank you for your analysis. I appreciate the thought you have put into your reply. The root cause of our problem is us and our divisive nature. We just cannot live in harmony with each other. Take you for example. Do you live with your parents? Here in the US, we are expected to leave home after high school. And if we don't, we are expected to get a job and contribute to living expenses. So, most people leave home and set up a place for themselves even though there is room in their parents' house. This makes no sense to me because it cost more to do so.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sree251 Why would people keep living with their parents? ... The parents have the right to their privacy, and a lot of young people are trying to find privacy of their own. There is still harmony though, me and my parents get around pretty well. We just don't in each others house.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 Why would people keep living with their parents? Family, that's why. What privacy do parents' need in your family culture? What's this privacy you are talking about? My grandma was Italian, and family cohesion was a big part of my upbringing. I lived at home with my parents till I went off to university. I returned to live with them when I started my career. Mom's cooking was just one reason for living at home.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sree251 I don't know where you grew up. But people out here deff prefer to have some privacy.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 What privacy? I am asking you again. Do your parents have something to hide from you?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sree251 Just like myself, they also enjoy it when there isn't someone else in their house. It's comfy. If these people want to have sex, have a party, invite friends over, ... at least their 40 year old kid isn't around.

Not to mention that dad has to mention to the kid that they have nothing to say because it's "their" house.

But hey, if you have a super duper open relationship with your kids... that's cool.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 Yuck. Thank God, I don't have those privacy issues in my home. My parents were always happy to see me come home even after a couple of days away. We seem to suffer from separation anxiety.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sree251 Well, that's your relationship with your parents. But you can't expect to have your experiences be the mold of how everyone works.

And we still have a good relationship... but we live seperate. That keeps the peace.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 I do expect my experience to be universal for all families. It is the glue for mankind's unity. No more conflict and no more wars. And this is what keeps the peace. It's similar to the way your body parts stay healthy together. Imagine the heart wanting privacy from the lungs.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sree251 Wow... universal for all families. I don't know man, but that's not how it works. And this organic idea of society, is not something I buy into.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 I know my idea is strange in a world of broken parts. Nobody gets along with anybody unless they are screwing each other in business or in bed.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sree251 You can still get along with people, and enjoy comming home to an empty house where you can stretch your leggs and have your privacy. If this concept is foreign you, that's okay... you don't have to be like that. But a lot of people do like a bit of alone time, espescially as a couple.
