Good riddance that someone finally brought charges. But only a moron or troll would claim Santos was any party's "best".

I'm still waiting for the NYTimes to apologize for why it never uncovered ANY of these crimes before the election. Were they covering the campaign with a low IQ chatbot?
@SusanInFlorida The NY Times reported how Santos' lies were known to republican powers in Washington. They knew and they kept it on the down-low. This wasn't a failure on the part of the republican party, it was an intentional hiding of dangerous facts about Santos. But go ahead, blame it all on the NY Times, a news organ republicans love to deny.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@ElwoodBlues "down low", lol gold star for that one.

I guess the NY is making a backhanded apology for being unable to discover the facts for themselves? unnamed republicans didn't call their reporters?

well, this is how far investigative journalism has fallen, I guess. Covering press conferences, and waiting for anonymous tipsters to put a present in your lap.

Neoerectus · M
TN state House GoP dumps free-speaking DEMs for 'decorum,' but federal House GOP can't rejec't acknowledged liar and con artist. 🙄
Sad but true.

JustScott · M
Haha, the guy’s a joke! I guess he qualifies for politics
Graylight · 51-55, F
@JustScott His response to 13 federal allegations? "In two years, I'll be leading a Committee." And he's right.
ilikeitlikethat23 · 61-69, M
@Graylight yeah in prison, where all the house republicans belong.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@ilikeitlikethat23 Not all of them, but certainly the ones they've let run the place.
Spotpot · 41-45, M
He really fitt well in with todyas Trump republicans he is much a grifter as their boss Trump
how about that Texas pol that has been found to have drugged and raped an intern,
seems he was all about "protecting the children from gays"
@SusanInFlorida agreed on ALL of those frauds and cheats. I will confess I object to politicians as a class
And i am told i should not DO that! they are the two heads of one monster , sorry if i seem partisan
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@SatyrService we share common ground on our suspicions about the motives and behavior of politicians. i am not a member of either political party. I think if term limits are good for presidents, we might want to try them for senators, congresspersons, governors, mayors, etc. My dog catcher can stay though. It's less prone to waste fraud and abuse than billion dollar pentagon contracts.
@SusanInFlorida yes ma'am term limits of all, and les thru the Supreme Court in that basket as well
Between corporate lobbyists and untraceable dark money, super pacs etc. we have lost control of the entire process of politics.
how many members of congress AREN'T millionaires, and how many that enter congress not THAT rich, will be millionaires when they leave congress.
ore democracy has been for sale, in whole or in part. more and more each year.
I don't care for MAGAts OR SJWs and such extreme positions on left and right, have turned Americans against each other. finding unbiased news is hard, I have been looking at something called Ground News. they show all the headlines, and who has printed what, and. what way that article or source leans, politically.
but for any story, I tend to look at 6-8 very different sources,, many over seas, to get some perspective
Broache73 · 46-50, F
George Santos embodies and epitomizes EVERYTHING that both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue actually live by. The American Public, Taxpayers, and Consumers only get the Government that reflects who they are and that they deserve...
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@Broache73 politics in america today is actualy no more tawdry than in the past. When the media conspired to suppress revelations of presidential illegitimate love children, extramarital affairs, debilitating illnesses, mental incapacitation, bribery . ..

the same as it ever was.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Because everybody found it amusing until it had ramifications.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Eh, a lot of Republicans started backing away from him when all of his fraud started coming out. I think this guy mostly represents the gullibility of their voters and not really the Republican party itself.

I'm not particularly a fan of the GOP but I'm not going to judge them too harshly for this one unless they start circling wagons to protect him.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@ViciDraco there's a bipartisan consensus that he's crossed some line.

since i'm not a lawyer, I'm perplexed by this question: at what point do statements made during a campaign cross the line and become criminal fraud to obtain high office? Some examples over the years . . .

1. I will build a wall and get mexico to pay for it.
2. I will have the NIH cure cancer
3. I will win the war in Vietnam
4. I will win the war in Korea
5. I will not send japanese americans to concentration camps
6. I will govern in a centrist, non partisan manner for the benefit of all citizens.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@SusanInFlorida it is because he messed with rich people's money. The big rule in Washington is to not upset the major donors.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@ViciDraco i hear that. it's why so many people don't see any difference between the two parties.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
A prime example!!
TJNewton · M
George Santos is innocent of all charges it's just a witch hunt
KunsanVeteran · 61-69, M
@TJNewton ROFLMAO!

Now THAT’S funny!
TJNewton · M
@KunsanVeteran 🙂👍
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@TJNewton I'm inclined to believe innocent until proven in a court of law. But he was arrested and charged for financial fraud. On the day Santos posted bail, he used the courtroom steps to announce his re-election bid.
