How would GOP states fare after a national divorce

If blue and red states became separate how well would GOP states do compared to democratic states given that GOP states tend to be rural poor and poorly educated compared to blue states.

They won’t be separated, but let’s say there was enough popular momentum to get something going. The issue at hand isn’t that the GOP wants a Civil War - it’s that the GOP wants a one party authoritarian rule. They’re not interested in egality or even in separate but equal. They want to rule, and they think that by dividing they can conquer. What a shame to prove them right.

@Graylight Democrats are the authoritarians.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@IronHamster Prove it.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
That's funny. The left relies on welfare plantations and racism for their support.

@TrashCat I don't know, I'm not playing favorites. The unemployment rate for Arkansas is 3.6% as of December 2022. USA is 3.4%.
Source: Google, but they seemed to pull it from a credible source. I'm not entirely sure what necessarily qualifies as "employed" though.

The laziness seems to be at an all-time high in cities that are in the Pacific time zone, in particular. I'm basing this on how much degeneracy and people you'll see sitting around without a purpose on the streets.

@familyfunguy Tennessee and Georgia are awful! I came from New England and it was no where near as bad as here.
Spotpot · 41-45, M
@familyfunguy Blue states are wealthier more edudcated more productive and have a considerbly better quality of life than red states.
Red counties generate about 30% of our GDP, Blue counties generate 70% of our GDP. If red areas did manage to separate themselves from blue areas, they would end up poor, angry, technologically backwards,and with a great excess of weapons. Kinda like Russia under Putin!

@ElwoodBlues Like they are now you mean?
@anythingoes477 Well, yes, but gov't spending effectively transfers large amounts of wealth from blue areas to red areas. If the red areas split off they'd lose all that welfare.
@ElwoodBlues Awwwwwwwww.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Well, it would be nice to see the money my state pays in Federal taxes actually be used in the state instead of being sent to support GOP states that can't support themselves and don't even try to.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@ChipmunkErnie Maybe the red states can ship you their blue population of inner city riffraff and we will call it even.

Truth be known, there aren't blue states so much as blue cities. If cities cut federal money for roads, and red states control barge traffic, then the cities starve, so there's another win win deal.
Spotpot · 41-45, M
@IronHamster Blue cities are the main economic centers in in red states without them GOP states would become dirt poor.
It is exactly that reason........."poorly educated"...that the idea of separatism is so popular in Red states. The shock comes later.....if they get their wish........ that it's the Blue states that fund their welfare checks.
Emjay · 18-21, F
I recommend looking at in terms of geography as would impact the standard of living.

USA is currently ranked 17th in standard of living. I believe red states would do okay, slipping back to 25th. They do control the Mississippi river basin and have lots of productive land. The blue would have the more difficult time as it adjusts to the loss of the south and then the west. It would need to rebuild its coastal cities and waterways plus develop closer ties with Atlantic and Great Lakes provinces. It could sink as low as 30th worldwide, being less contiguous and fortunate.

Remove gerrymandering, remove GOP propaganda such as Fox News, massively improve education, and the “red states” would turn various shades of purple, surf green, cobalt blue, all the way to dark blue. Keep in mind what you refer to as “red states” are also populated with a large number of democrats.

Like Florida and Texas?
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@laotzu92 Like the entertainers in Chicago.

That depends... Those on farms would be able to eat, until the marauding gangd came to take everything. Those unarmed in the cities would hide if they had anything and slowly starve in the dark.. 😷
pdockal · 56-60, M
They would do so much better without the baggage
