I recommend looking at in terms of geography as would impact the standard of living.
USA is currently ranked 17th in standard of living. I believe red states would do okay, slipping back to 25th. They do control the Mississippi river basin and have lots of productive land. The blue would have the more difficult time as it adjusts to the loss of the south and then the west. It would need to rebuild its coastal cities and waterways plus develop closer ties with Atlantic and Great Lakes provinces. It could sink as low as 30th worldwide, being less contiguous and fortunate.
