Honestly I've always thought of Sanders as the perfect foil to Trump. Donald Trump represents the most paranoid and warlike instincts of this species, while Sanders -- love him or hate him -- overwhelmingly represents a message of peace, acceptance, and compassion towards others. Both have (or had) the energy of an ideologue, and both fundamentally understand that politics is about power, something that Obama always seemed blind to.
See my previous post regarding Obama being a smart president.
Agree or disagree with the man's platform, policies, or actions, but he is smart and capable.
With Trump, agree or disagree with the man's platform, policies, or actions, but I can't see how anyone would think he is an intelligent man, or morally sound.
Many of Trump's critics had issues with him for years and considered him a jerk long prior to him running for president. I held out hope that it was all just an act and that once in an esteemed office he would act respectable. Turns out the opposite was true - he became more of a jerk.
