Maybe I don't watch enough British or French daytime TV to really know, but I have a sense that Dr Oz could only be a candidate for office (and taken seriously) in the US. Not really gloating or have anything interesting to comment really, just I think it's interesting (and perplexing, and alarming).

We did have a current football player (soccer, that is) change government policy about providing free school meals to children and generally be seen as the loveliest thing in the UK since powdered hot chocolate. (He's still a guy paid millions of pounds to play a girl's game, so it's all relative...)
