Do you agree that this is allowed to happen?

How broken does an election system have to be, when a billionaire donates 126 million to a political party, making him the top donor?
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
Just look at what happened last election. Embezzled Black Lives Matter money paid for the Democratic election

Nobody was supporting Joe Biden
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DeluxedEdition You are totally out of your mind! You need to read the history, not quote some nutcase. You might want to pick up a copy of Ullrich Volker's book on Europe in the late 1920s and 30s.
Have a great life.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 I learned that from SCHOOL like HIGH SCHOOL and from reading my grandpas history books and watching the history channel with him. I guess everyone is wrong except Ullrich Volker.
@DeluxedEdition 81 million people voted to fire the biggest piece of shit in Americas history,.

Some indeed were also Biden supporters,
Politicians should be forced to dress like NASCAR Drivers....

With their sponsors logos printed on their shirts......

And no way does he expect anything in return for his small donor contribution right?

Every person who decides to run should be allowed a equal amount of air time to plead their case..
that’s it.. remove the money.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout What's really sad, is so much of that money, comes from American taxpayers to NGO's.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Thank you SCOTUS for the Citizen's United Decision, it is range war now!
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
He has been a naturalised US citizen since 1961.
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
@Zeusdelight Actually, it wasn’t that Murdoch became a US citizen which made him have to give up other citizenships. It was the fact that he wanted to purchase a US television station, and the regulations specify that you need to be solely a US citizen to own a US television station.
Had he wanted to have some other business, he may well have been able to retain dual citizenship as neither the US nor Australia forbid that.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@DragonFruit I sit corrected. I am not standing at the moment:) Thanks.
Oster1 · M
@Zeusdelight 😂🤣😅😁
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
What make the Mainstream Media smart as Fatterman they had to Plaster this Dark Overlord on NBC exposing some Juicy Details to the Viewers. Fvcking Idiots XD
Oster1 · M
@FreestyleArt Familiarize yourself with the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and how Obama repealed it, in 2013, making propaganda legal again.

Most know nothing of this abomination, pardon the pun!
xp47rb · M
Not one dime should be allowed from anyone not eligible to vote for whatever candidate it supports.
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
@xp47rb He is a naturalized US citizen since 1961....which means that he’s been able to vote for longer than I have (and I was born here).
xp47rb · M
@DragonFruit but should not be allowed to provide financial support for candidates for office from jurisdictions other than the one in which he lives. For example, candidates running for Congress from other states
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
Who did that? And why couldn’t he donate me some money 😞
Oster1 · M
@TurtlePink George Soros. I wish he would.😊🌷
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
@Oster1 I’ve never even heard of him 😭🤣🤣
Oster1 · M
@TurtlePink It's OK, and not your fault. 🤗
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I find the whole system rigged. Both sides are not representative.

You have politicians that run for office totally on their own money. How is that representative? 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤪

The government should be doing the funding equally. No corporate sponsors or self funding. Or at the very least put a limit to both.

You put a limit on it you get rid of candidates like Trump who reroute campaign finances for their own legal aids.
Oster1 · M
@DeWayfarer Many are guilty on all sides. I do agree, Election reform is badly needed!
Theyitis · 36-40, M
I believe that it currently is allowed to happen, but I would much rather it not be allowed. I think you’ll find that no Democrats are opposed to passing legislation to end Citizens United v. The Federal Election Commission, which drastically raised the amount of money individuals and corporations could donate and allowed them to do so more discreetly.
Problem being???

Dude donates $126 million to a US political party... could've donated $126 million to Russia instead - or bought a Premier League football team.

There's plenty of places to lose$126 million if you want to.

bookerdana · M
@Oster1 ..more than i do what??🤔
Oster1 · M
@bookerdana Think about it.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Amazing, And what do they expect to get in return for that $126 million?
Oster1 · M
@Heartlander Exactly! Thank you, for your comment! 😊

In all fairness, Peter Thiel lived most of his life in the US, and even though he's German born, he's been active in politics, donating $100s of millions to conservative campaigns throughout the country. It's all legal. Mitch McConnell, used to influence where the money goes, but Thiel has since decided that anyone left of MAGA is a communist, so he primarily backs election deniers. Still legal though. This is the billionaire you're talking about, right?
It's obviously Capitalism, not democracy.
America accepts that. You work here, we own the country.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Roundandroundwego Labor unions also pour millions into the coffers of candidates. Trial lawyers are also big contributors. Do you think that may be a part of why our criminal justice system is so screwed up?

Anyone remember when Chinese agents got caught trying to stuff cash into Al Gore's pockets?
missyann · 56-60
We need to make it illegal to donating to all politicians. They have plenty of money and media allows them to get their message out
America is a corrupt nation thanks to republicans.
Citizens united was just another right wing nail in the coffin
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
That’s the Supreme Court for ya.
