Do you agree that this is allowed to happen?

How broken does an election system have to be, when a billionaire donates 126 million to a political party, making him the top donor?

He has been a naturalised US citizen since 1961.

@Zeusdelight He holds a dual citizenship with Hungary and owns property in the US, but I can't find, where he legally resides.

@Zeusdelight Yes, he has been a US citizen for over 60 years....and is entitled to be involved in US politics. He’s not allowed to be President, because he wasn’t born a US citizen, but he’s free to donate to anyone he chooses.

@Oster1 He lives much of the time in New York State....and an assassination attempt was made on him at his home a number of years ago.

@DragonFruit I edited the post and will still research donation restrictions.

I don't like to spread misinformation, but still believe this is not right for our country.

@Oster1 Isn't it a natural outcome of a Capitalist society? He earned the money and has a right to spend it the way he wishes. I am not arguing whether it is detrimental or not. (By the way, is his honorary citizenship of Budapest where his dual citizenship comes in? When Rupert Murdoch became a US citizen, he had to renounce all other citizenships.)

@Zeusdelight Not sure about Murdoch, but will research

I myself, have a dual citizenship with France, through my Mother.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Oster1 Interesting. I am sure of the Murdoch case as it was big news here, in Australia when it happened. Just a curiosity of mine.

So you were born in the US and your Mum in France?

Thanks.
Oster1 · M
@Zeusdelight Yes, to an American Father, as well.
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
@Zeusdelight Actually, it wasn’t that Murdoch became a US citizen which made him have to give up other citizenships. It was the fact that he wanted to purchase a US television station, and the regulations specify that you need to be solely a US citizen to own a US television station.
Had he wanted to have some other business, he may well have been able to retain dual citizenship as neither the US nor Australia forbid that.

@DragonFruit I sit corrected. I am not standing at the moment:) Thanks.

@Zeusdelight 😂🤣😅😁
