Police Departments all over the nation are starting to buy EVs..

Will this be the catalyst for more EV infrastructure in the US? Is this the beginning of the end for the combustion engine?

Budwick · 70-79, M
Well, police are being defunded all over. And, EV's are way pricey.
And, fossil fuel engines apparently will be in demand - at least until a reasonable alternative is up for sale.

@Budwick This is true and the EV technology still has a way to go. But it’ll get there eventually..

@Quetzalcoatlus When it does, I'll be a fan.

I can see it now... "One-Adam 15... terminating pursuit due to low battery. 10-7 (out of service) mechanical at current GPS location". Sorry, couldn't resist.

@rfatoday and we cant charge our battery, its hot and everyone is running the AC
EV infrastructure will increase nationwide, but it will take decades to replace the fossil fuel industry.

@independentone I already have sold two gas cars and replaced with electric. Love it so far.

@Like2play My next will be EV. I’ve already replaced small things like my weed wacker. It makes a world of difference!!

@Quetzalcoatlus my mower and weed eater are both electric and I love them.

I hope so.

But no, any transition would take years, if not decades. We won't all be forced to drive EV's by next weekend, as my brother-in-law believes.

That new climate bill that was passed, allocated a ton of money to infrastructure as well, so I think we'll see more of that coming

The migration to non-fossil fuel vehicle technology will be good for humanity on a variety of levels. Not to mention cleaner air. When it comes to public safety vehicles I think there needs to be a lot of planning and realistic approaches to procurement and infrastructure. Some manufactures are already encountering short supply of batteries. But I am sure other technologies that create energy to power DC motors will come about over time. Oh, let's also consider impacts of producing battery materials.

California and Washington state will not allow non-EV sales past 2030.

From my local TV station. I live in WA state. I also get the Governor' s newsletter. The old target was 2035, the new one is 2030.

@Northwest I am by Portland. We will see what happens.

@Like2play This was signed into law back in March (the earlier link I sent). I can't include the Governor's newsletters, as they're sent to me in email form. I am in Portland often. A lot of EV are not for sale in WA, as they're allocated to CA and OR first by dealers. I am negotiating with a dealer in Portland about getting a specific model (I don't want to buy a Tesla).

I think OR will follow what WA and CA do.
lol The beginning of the end was long ago.

How are EMP sales?
Like2play · M
On the taxpayer’s dime, no doubt. The last time I called Lyft the driver showed up in one. That was an awesome ride home. A friend was with me and he kept asking the driver questions, like a kid with a toy he’d never seen before. 😄
@Like2play Precisely.

@bijouxbroussard as it should be.
@Like2play Well, if you like paying for new "toys" for your police department, what can I say ?
There are plenty of good, less expensive cars that have served them well.

Bigger question: how will this enrage MAGA?
