They're regressive, not conservative

@Elessar I dunno, regression seems to be part of conservatism to me, perhaps it is just heightened in late stage conservatism

tRump was just a crutch the Christian Nationalists in the Repug party used to get themselves elected, now that many of them are in Congress and the Senate, they will turn on him the moment they can. tRump was never a Christian Nationalist and that is their ultimate goal, to get one of them in the White House, even Mike Pence wasn't far right enough for them, watch what happens if tRump gets indicted 😖

They can and I hope they will. I know and worked with many reasonable Republicans and honestly, I can agree with some of their ideas, but they have to clean house starting with Trump, Desantis, Cruz and the like.

Red or Blue, it's a Uni-Party. Forget this.
It's a suckers party, and we 'aint', in it!

@Elessar While I understand the argument there, in practice, that doesn't happen. Voting for the lesser evil actually does move society to the Left.
For example, Obama was the lesser evil to McCain. Neither wanted free healthcare, but Obama had the ACA, which was a huge step in a better direction. Today, the ACA is so popular that more Americans than ever before are open to the idea of expanding the ACA. This absolutely would not have happened if the Republicans won. And it's like that with all welfare policies. First we get an inch, then we get another and another. But that only happens if you vote for the lesser evil every single time.

Unclear.

It is the future of the GOP. Look at the run up to the mid term elections. Only 2 of the House members who voted to impeach Trump made it.

I think they’ve gone too far overboard and this is it for them.

They really have nothing else that works.

It would have to disassociate itself from Trump and the MAGA candidates in a big way. Right now it’s the party of Confederate flags and the KKK.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Craziness is all they have to offer.

Good question. How would that affect the oft repeated "lying cons" accusation?
