Your own personal IRS agent?

Interesting math behind the Biden plan to hire 80,000 IRS agents to make sure persons and corporations earning over $400,000 per year are paying their fair share.

2,800,000 = the approximate number of American tax filers who earn more than $400,000
80,000 = the number of additions new IRS agents Biden plans to hire to assure the above will pay their fair share
35 = 2,800,000 divided by 80,000

At 35 to 1, this is like someone earning more than $400K will have the equivalent of a personal IRS agent looking over their financial affairs. Contrast this to the 790 to 1 ratio of police officers to citizens in my community. Put another way, the US government is far-far-far-far more focused on the rich 2% paying their taxes than the city is on protecting the people from being murdered, raped, assaulted, robbed, etc. Why so many "far"s? Because 35 to 1 compared to 790 to 1 is a big, big difference.

Digging further into the insanity ....

$100,000 = the annual approximate cost of employing one IRS agent (a pretty conservative estimate)
$2,857 = $100,000 divided by 35

To pay for the 80,000 additional IRS agents, the IRS will have to squeeze an average of an additional $2,857 from everyone earning $400K+ just to pay the salary and benefits of the additional IRS agent hired to make sure the over $400K taxpayers are paying his/her fair share.

How did this kind of crap get into a bill called the "Inflation Reduction Act"? It sounds more like it belongs in a bill designed to fund the Gestapo.

Don’t believe it’s only those earning over $400k. It will be everyone except the wealthy. The ads for these agents say they need to be willing to be armed, and use deadly force, as well as be involved in other dangerous activities. Sounds more like a hit squad.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Carissimi The super wealthy typically hire smarter lawyers and accountants than the IRS employs, so mange to safely shield their wealth from anxious tax collectors.

Considering the risk involved with seizing an independent contractor's truck to settle nonpayment of back taxes, I think I understand the rational behind that help wanted ad.

IRS Agents are not supposed to be like a SWAT team. That’s an insult to small business owners. @Heartlander

And all this time we were told the 85,000 irs agents were to be used to insure those millions of illegal aliens coming across the southern border were paying their taxes!
ron122 · 41-45, M
@sunsporter1649 They want the tax money from audits so they can give it to the illegals.
graphite · 61-69, M
@ron122 Democrats' America Last policies.
jim44444 · 70-79, M
So what is your solution? Let the rich cheat as much as they want?
The working men and women have payroll deduction and damn few tax breaks. They pay their fair share and then some. The lawyers and doctors and dentists and executives hide their income, lie about their expenses and thumb their noses at the IRS all while claiming to be patriots. It is time to put the finances of the moguls under the microscope.
Slade · 56-60, M
@jim44444 "fair share" - moonbat siren song
jim44444 · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 I would support a rule that anyone elected to Congress or reelected gets an automatic audit.
Explain how McConnel went from being a poor country bumpkin to be worth 34 million while only working as a government 'servant'?
Blue , red or Bernie - they are all crooks.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@jim44444 Helps that the turtle owns a shipping line hauling containers from the chicoms, and his wife was Sec of Transportation
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Closing the IRS would save a lot of money
Slade · 56-60, M
Almost everyone they go after will make under $75k a year. Espcially those in cash busnesses (service industry, anyone who gets tips)

They are easy prey. And predators are what the IRS is
Wantingwidow · 56-60, F
So they can hire those but not armed security for our schools??
Fuck joe bumbles
graphite · 61-69, M
@Wantingwidow Democrats want to go after their #1 enemy - the American people.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
So we can hire more IRS agents, but not more medical personnel during a “pandemic “. Got it.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
So an irs audit now means we arm ourselves to defend against agents of the government sent to steal our money
Elessar · 26-30, M
Good, if they don't have anything to hide they don't have anything to fear.

I thought conservative agreed with this line once.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Elessar

So the solution is, let's let the rich get away with not paying taxes because enforcing the law is going to cost money?

Her's a novel idea: simply that end of the tax code..
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Heartlander Here's another idea: everyone pays their amount due, without whining too much
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
Wantingwidow · 56-60, F
Elessar · 26-30, M
@sunsporter1649 What makes you think I would oppose that?
Slade · 56-60, M
@sunsporter1649 you'll see God before that
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Slade You can bet your bippy on that
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Liberal math.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Carla Will they be packing heat?
Carla · 61-69, F
@irishmolly72 what does it matter? Shouldn't everyone be carrying a gun?
I mean, especially revanuers...
what if we instead, taxed eh mega corps, not based on their NET, which is easy to fudge.
Ooo we made 30 Mil in profits,, if we instead use that for "expenses" then there is no income to tax.
maybe the megacorps should actually pay taxes for the PRIVLEDGE of doing business as a corporation in the US
this goes double for those who have offshored their company
to do businss in the US you should BE in the US, if not pay more
Slade · 56-60, M
@SatyrService so it will be just like the Ozulu regime where those with money moved it offshore and simply didn't invest. There were trillions just sitting under the matress

You must be an economics scholar
@Slade lol,, ah
"the Dismal Science" talk more about the Ozulu regime? when where and who was that?
Budwick · 70-79, M
This is a terrific, eye opening article.
Thank you!
Jonjdw · 51-55, M
Unfortunately even if you are correct it doesn’t matter. Not saying you are not correct.
