I took the 5th because, well, I'm guilty

"I once asked, 'If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?' Now I know the answer to that question. When your family, your company, and all the people in your orbit have become the targets of an unfounded, politically motivated Witch Hunt supported by lawyers, prosecutors, and the Fake News Media, you have no choice."
Trump, explaining why he took the 5th

Conservatives, do you really but this BS? What about the reason or aim for an investigation would influence whether someone chose to tell their truth and defend their innocent position? It's the kind of statement made often on shows like To Catch a Predator. The suspect tries to play off the whole encounter by saying he was just dropping over to help someone study, a ludacris explanation that sounds sane to him.

Your guy is guilty and he's going to answer for it. He'll either be convicted of crimes or he'll die a victim and unrealized in greatness, mired in very unflattering press and allegations. I'm not sure which one I hope for.
He deserves to be behind bars for all the crimes he has done until now. Only in America is an ex-President given so much sympathy and time to create propaganda and lies.

So much drama….we all know he was the one calling the mob to attack on Jan 6. Tell his rats to scurry off.

@Ferise1 Exactly how are one's beliefs outlawed, and which ones would those be?

He pleads the 5th at a civil trial which is different than a criminal trial. In a civil trial when you plead the 5th it is just like admitting guilt....so yep...Trump admited he is guilty...lol.

Let's wait for the blowback before we start predicting Trump's fate, which I still think hinges largely not on facts or legal institutions but the resilience of Trumpist faith and willingness to burn down the country for him.

Pleading the 5th to every question but his name is wholly consistent with the guy who bragged about being able to kill someone on 5th Avenue without losing his supporters.

Sure, he seems boxed into a corner, but aside from his personal greed, the other major theme of Trumpism is draining the swamp, owning the libs, and destroying institutions and social conventions that get in the way of those things.

He basically gave the civil justice the middle finger yesterday, and I'm not sure the consequences of that are going to matter that much as long as he can still "fundraise" or get money from his followers who hope for a piece of his action, whether it be monetary or maleovolence.

Of course, I apologize if my response is off topic. You asked Conservatives a question, and neither I nor die hard Trump supporters really fit that bill. But I still think those folks, and the reaction of others, liberal, conservative, independent, or politically uninterested to Trumpist reaction will hold the key to both Trump's fate and that of the country.

How serious are Trumpist threats and how do non-Trumpists react to them, imo, seems to be the real key here. Magistrate Judge Reinhart is getting death threats, for example, and while I'd sort of like to think prosecutors and other Judges and jurors might do their duty in the face of stuff like this, I'm not naive enough to think that its a sure thing.
For trying to make a buck? Still far better than the other guy.

"What are those limits regarding Ukraine? Well, for starters, Zelensky rules much like his adversary, the universally denounced Putin, does. Zelensky shut down all opposition media in Ukraine, then banned opposition political parties. He declared that Russia would have to kill every single citizen of Kyiv to get to him, but also found time to pose for a melodramatic Annie Leibovitz portrait spread for American fashion magazine Vogue. Zelensky also fired the Ukrainian equivalent of the U.S. Attorney General and the head of the CIA, on the very same day, perhaps during breaks from his grandiose photo shoot."

Sounds like what the lefties here are doing too.

@checkoutanytime Was that intended as a play on words? Because if so, well done.

So your position 🤔 is that if you plead the 5th Amendment, that automatically indicates guilt.Just out of curiosity, does this theory apply to Lois Lerner?
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Hell, i pled the 5th on the first question, it was a trick.. they knew damn well what my name was.

Insanely rich people in power usually are guilty.

@Ferise1 Do you think Trump's lawyer was misquoted about him taking the 5th?

Or does the conspiracy against him justify anything he does?

@Ferise1 I guess I deserve that for asking two questions
